Pier 1 Imports Closing Stores

I came across an instant interesting article that I wanted to share with everyone that just had me thinking. The article read pier one imports closing all Canadian stores as it files for bankruptcy protection.

It really took me a back because they were closing 450 stores which really meant that a lot of people are going to be unemployed. One of the things that caught my attention is that it said that with the increased competition from budget friendly online retailers like Wayfair, their sales has really suffered.

Two things really came to mind:

1. Affiliate marketing will be huge in the years ahead then maybe most of us think.
2. The ability to close down a lot of established businesses which in this case has been around since I think the 60's means online marketing is here to stay in a powerful way.
