How to Get More Accomplished in a Day!

I have noticed a few posts that some members have been feeling overwhelmed with all they have to do and learn in a day to feel productive! It’s no easy task when you are running your own business, and still have so much training and learning to do at the same time! I put together a few steps that help me out, maybe it will help you out too, or you have your own routine that you can contribute in the comments!

1.) Start getting ready the night before for the next day! Write down your goal list from most important to least important, so if you don’t finish it in a day, the least important goals won’t panic you if they don’t get done. Just add them to the top of the next day's list.

2.) Maybe you like to work in your p.j’s at home, but if you feel better being dressed every day, put your clothes out on your dresser the night before!

3.) Get up early as you would on a normal work day! I’m a morning person, so I am more alert and work better between 5:00 a.m until 10:00 A.M, but then again 8:00 P.M until 10:00 I can get a lot more accomplished as well.

4.) The night before, my daughter sets up the coffee for me, so at a certain time in the morning it turns on, so when I wake, I have a nice pot of hot coffee waiting for me! I only drink two cups at the most, otherwise, I’d be bouncing off the walls…lol

5.) Have a good breakfast, as healthy food fuels your brain for the day ahead, and maybe start your day with reading the newspaper or watching the news to learn about what’s going on in the world, or even your own city! I know with the internet, you can find out all that online as well, but I’m still an old fashioned gal that enjoys reading the newspaper like in the good old days! J

6.) Now, look at your list you made the night before! Tick off what you accomplish as you finish each task! Yours might look like this! (Check email, answer any questions you can from WA, and if you don’t know the answers, go to certain questions that interest you, as you may learn something new there, ask a question yourself either because you want to know something, or maybe even start a discussion about business, go through some posts, not all of them as there are way too many…lol, but ones that interest you, and write a comment IF you have something to contribute! Just writing "good post" to say something is nice, but try to expand on it. Why was it a good post? What did you learn from it? How did it make you feel? People love input, and it shows that you actually took the time to read their post!)

7.) Continuing with your goal/tasks list – Now work on something that is going to better your business, work on some of the training here if you haven’t completed it, do searches on Google for new, different affiliate programs, write a post for your Niche Blog, exchange comments on blogs with other members!

8.) Now take a much-deserved break away from the computer. Maybe go for a walk out side, weather permitting, read some pages of a good book, watch a movie, something you find relaxing, even yoga if you are into that, as I hear that is really good for you!

9.) Some members find the training overwhelming at times! Please take baby steps! For the certification course for your Niche, instead of rushing through it to just get it done and out of the way, that’s not going to help you and has the potential to backfire on you. There are 5 Modules, with 10 lessons per module. It may take you longer to get through them this way, but maybe start with the first module, and just do one lesson in that module a day. This way it gives you a chance to take it all in, and understand it all before rushing to the next one! This isn’t a race with who’s the best, as this is your own personal journey, and business.

10.)You may have more to do on your tasks list like I do, but this is a start, and always keep things in perspective and remember why it is you are doing this! If you are done your task list, or even just want to take a short break to reach out to someone in WA who may need help, then find the time to do that! They will appreciate it, especially if they are struggling as you once were!

11.)I can not emphasize ENOUGH the importance of a good nights sleep! I go through chronic insomnia, so the odd time that I sleep all night, I am a whole different person come morning!

I hope this post helps some of you, until next time!

Great ideas, especially the one that has us placing things we need for the next day in appropriate places the night before!

Time management is what you are promoting, here, and that is always a great way to get things accomplished.

Thank you very much!! :)

Hi Terry, good article, and a weird advice to beat insomnia- don't be organised. Go to bed only when you feel tired, when you feel like sleeping. It only can work if you don't have a fixed routine, that is if you can allow yourself sleep long in the morning.Try it. It works fine with me.:)

I have tried EVERYTHING...lol..even to the point of being exhausted that I thought for sure I'd sleep..I lay down, and bam...my eyes are wild open and I get a second wind...I think I should try sleeping sitting up...lol

Not a laughing matter, sure. I gave this advice to someone here already. Lie in your bed, and don't cover yourself with a blanket.Get cold a bit, then cover yourself with a blanket, and you will immediately feel warm and comfortable and you will fall asleep.Simple, but works..:)

I'll give it a try! :)

getting up at the same time every day even on weekends

sorry..should have rephrased that...people need down time...sleep in on weekends! :) lol

your body has certain biorhythms. getting up at the same time on weekends isn't about working it's about consistency and something your body gets used to. One of the reasons people have trouble getting up Monday mornings is because they throw their body rhythm off balance by not being consistent on the weekends

hmmmm..that makes sense!! :) I actually used to get up at the same time every morning automatically, but for a long time now I just can't sleep more than three hours a night most nights!

Very helpful post very well written.
Thanks
Richard

Terry - Nice info-graphic. Lots of great tips in your post on how to manage your time as well. Thanks for sharing this.

You're very welcome! :)

Excellent tips and image, Terry.

I actually used to cringe from anything that was too structured, but I found that without it, my life is just chaotic.

Owww...and I must, must, must have my room pitch black. It ry does make a difference!

I'm the same way if my house or surroundings are disorganized, so is my mind! I definitely need a routine and structure! :) Thanks for commenting Veronica! :)
