There are two types of geniuses

The first type flags up when you're young. One of the classic examples of this is Albert Einstein. He wrote papers that revolutionized physics written when he was in his 20s. Bill Gates was a billionaire by the time he just left his 20s. Orson Welles made Citizen Kane when he was 25.

These stories of young bright geniuses are romanticized. Geniuses are necessarily gifted individuals some of whom were catapulted into fame before they were even adults, but they're not all like this

Fortunately for entrepreneurs, there is a whole new type of creativity that doesn't blossom until your 40s or 50s or even later.

According to science, there are two types of geniuses the

Conceptualists versus the Experimentalists

There is a slower burning type of genius according to David Galenson, he has started genius that doesn't even begin to start until people are approaching or well into their 50s.

He calls the two types of geniuses old Masters and young geniuses. Weirdly his research was as an economist he started by looking at pictures by the artist Seurat.

Interestingly Galenson mapped out the average price of the artist’s work at public two different and distinct patterns emerged. The conceptual geniuses did their breakthrough work early in life and then for the most part declined steadily. Experimental innovators, on the other hand, plodded along, peaking late in their careers.

Examples of late innovators will be Charles Darwin he was 50 when he worked out his theories of illusion. Another example would be Mark Twain who published Huckleberry Finn when he was 49. This type of genius are plodders, they take a long time to mold that craft

Those who burn brightly when they are young, tend to burn out early. Okay there are always exceptions to the rules and clearly out but Einstein was one of these. Pablo Picasso also began to think about cubism in his 20s and acted on it but he was a prolific painter all his life. It can be argued that he did hone his craft during all of these years

Charles Darwin took decades recording every aspect of the natural world and putting his theory together slowly. Granted it was an unexpected trip to the Galapagos Islands which made him piece everything together. Mark Twain took 10 years to write his masterpiece.

These geniuses work things out as they go along, piecing together their ideas through trial, and error. This involves a process of refinement and observation and tweaking. This is why they don't reach that peak until the 50s.

This is great news for entrepreneurs here at Wealthy Affiliates. Success is not confined to those who young. Startups and businesses begin at any age but the truly successful ones are generally not young.

In the flight industry you can see Tony Ryan he was in his 40s when he formed Ryanair. Freddie Laker was also a late bloomer, granted he did go bust but he paved the way for Richard Branson to create Virgin Airlines. These were industry veterans [Richard Branson's very first business idea was to charter an airline when he was just 17, my memory serves me right it was a flight from Heathrow to Tokyo]

In short, these guys are experimentalists, and though they are spoken about less than the media there also geniuses. Just because you reach the age of 29 and not blossomed into a full-blown genius doesn't mean that you will do it at 49.

You have the experience in life now and you can put this experience to good use as an entrepreneur here. Everyone has a story to tell and everyone has the ability to turn the story into a profit

You might just be taking the route of the experimentalist to find your own big idea.

One of the best qualifications we can obtain is a QBE.

Qualified by experience.

It's an all weather any situation kind of qualification. Apply it and all the good stuff happens.

Just reflecting on your post, one of the stand outs is that the people who you mentioned all had one thing in common, they focused on one thing and followed through.

Enjoyed reading very much Catherine.

Alex

I think that's Is the mindset which is everything taking action. I have been here nearly 14 years and I can honestly say that everybody who hasn't given up eventually makes money

For me its been the old adage, "if at first you don't succeed....."

If at first you don't succeed is just one step nearer to success

Maybe some of the "old masters" were just being a little lazy in their younger years.😊

A really thought provoking concept Catherine.
You are really making me think outside my comfort zone.
Well read blog. Thank you for sharing

If I can achieve that for one person in one day then that's a magnificent thing

I will keep you posted Catherine, no matter how long the process

So there is hope for our generation. I believe some never give up on what they truly believe in. Time means nothing; accomplishing what they have dreamed about is what is important to them.

Nothing can stop Darwin, Ryan, and so many like them until their vision has been met and completed.

You have written a fascinating subject, Catherine, never really thought about with the way you described it.

Joseph

Excellent Joseph there is always hope and I believe I can achieve anything I want to believe

I totally agree with what the mind perceives it will achieve. That is an old quote, but I forgot who said it; I think it was Henry Ford, not sure?

Henry Ford definitely did say
"Whether you think you cannot you can't chances are you are correct".

If you think you are right or think you are wrong, you are right either way.
