We Learn from our Mistakes
(Header image: A person confronts a computer error, highlighting website development troubles.)
Just a quick blog post.
Over the last week, I set up three websites from scratch. Then, I discovered a mistake I couldn't correct, so I scrapped all three. No loss, right? We all learn from our mistakes.
I entered an email address for the default admin instead of just 'admin,' as this value cannot be changed in the user tab, and you cannot delete the default user either... So, you're stuck with it. I noticed that the author (default admin) was indexed, and the URL displayed the email address bots may use to send spam messages. Those sites are not hosted here; the default admin value at WA is managed automatically; no entry needs to be made.
The creation process is often non-linear, with twists and turns. However, I will rebuild them correctly this time, lol. It will be a lot faster.

That's how it goes in "the wonderful world of computers," Abie. Lol 😎
Give me a guitar, any day! 🎶
Enjoy your weekend! 🥳

You can have as many guitars as you like lol - It is a human error... Not laser-focused at the time :)
Hi Abie
Is sixty guitars enough? Lol
The more “user friendly” they make an operating system, the more difficult it seems to use the machine to “compute.” Don’t you find? 😎

I know... I have now gotten used to the new Chrome and must say I like it, and it works pretty fast. Sometimes, change is good.
Hi Abie
Yeah, I still prefer Chrome over other browsers.
It never seems to get bogged down, no matter how much I push it.
I always have about twenty tabs open on each of 2 to 3 windows, and about half of them are pinned and grouped. 😎
Frank 🎸
That's good to know :) I currently have 51 tabs open in one window...
That's about the average +/-
I have my bookmarks in Chrome, extensions, etc.
I occasionally use others, such as Opera, Brave, and the Tor Browser :)
I work my websites in Firefox to log in to a different hosting plan and have my notes saved on a different Gmail.
It works great for me... Thank you for sharing.
Try sorting your Chrome tabs in different windows with groups, and it runs more efficiently.
You can easily access each Chrome window by right clicking on the icon in the task bar.
I see it now, lol: 'Add a tab to a new group'—thanks! I'll test it out and see how it functions.
In my old way, I knew where the tabs were and could reach where I wanted to quickly and efficiently.
But willing to give your idea a try :)
Hi Abie
Organize all similar tabs sequentially, select them, and then add them to a single group and name it appropriately.
Opening more than one window in Chrome also makes things easier to find and makes the app run more efficiently with hardware acceleration.
I typically have a Chrome window with musical stuff, medical things, etc. 😎

Thanks for reminding us how easy it is to make the small errors that can be a pain in the future. Sharing mistakes is helpful as a warning for those like me.

You are welcome, Shelly! It would not have been corrected if I hadn't noticed the indexing URL bit. I am happy it was early on. Tbh, it is a bit of a silly mistake.
Sorry you had to go through that, Abie!
You're so right, our failures are much better lessons than our successes.
Thanks for sharing.

A great training session for you Abie.
We've all made mistakes, the important thing is to learn from them and share the knowledge, as you have.
Enjoy your weekend.
Bux
Absolutely, Sir Bux! :) I hope you have a fab weekend, too. I swam a bit today! 🏊💦🌊
Also, good job. I noticed early on, lol
It is indeed Miss A.
And if you think that life is crazy now, wait until I've had a drink.
Was that Ricky Martin that sang this. A catchy tune.
Look after yourself.
Bux 🌹
Yeah, Ricky, indeed :) That's what life is all about... Enjoy it while you can... I appreciate it a ton.
Thanks, you too, buddy!

Correction: I only just found out that if I install WordPress right away, I have to input an email address as an admin - vs. skip the step and have an under-construction page first, then head to site tools and install the WordPress -
So, really, it isn't my fault, but at least I know how to work it properly now.
