Hi everyone,

I had a conversation with another member today and felt compelled to blog about it. Yes, it is rare!

It was related to why he was making a website to promote IM and in particular WA.

Now I am not not out to knock WA, but really, you are just a "learner" in this business and you want to promote " how to do IM" ?? Seriously?? is that why you joined WA, to promote it or other IM products??

The IM market is seriously tough, do you remember all the cr&#$p you went thru before you got to WA?

So, my 2 cents worth : leave it, drop it, save your time, come back to it in a year or more....go spend your time and energy on something that you are passionate about and that others are passionate about and help them get what they are looking for!

cheers, phil

An honest shot really may teach lots! Starting hard at first is better than floudering at the middle or learning the hard way midway! Just a thought!

I kinda agree....when I first started I knew I didn't want to promote IM stuff. I was just learning the ropes myself...and didn't want to pretend like I had something to offer other newbies.

Hi Phil.

You won't be surprised that I completely disagree. 100%. ;)

It's highly likely that a newcomer's first exposure to affiliation is in Day 8 of Your First 10 Days, which is nothing but a call to promote IM and to sell WAU in particular.

I'd rather see a newcomer's take on WAU than many long-term Members sites (with a few notable exceptions!) that promote WAU, with their litany of "WA is a scam" domains that go on to sell WAU, guru headlines such as "easy way to make a fortune, I'll tell you the secret" which ends up being "join WAU here", fake promises of their own intensive support if you sign up now, etc. etc. ad nauseum.

It's my experience that I don't even have to be able to drive a car, let alone service one, to create a brilliant advertising campaign to sell cars. Why is IM or WAU any different?

I came to WAU with zero knowledge, never had a website, knew nothing of Wordpress, coding, IM or WAU in particular. I even thought that SEO was the corporate position just below CEO!

However, just a few months in, I'm stunned how many long-term successful Members claim to be experts in IM websites yet appear to do nothing more than use their expertise to push WAU in the outside world as a money-making-machine whilst simultaneously making their own simple, basic technical mistakes such as not having separate author and admin users set up in Wordpress.

I see such things because I have fresh eyes, I'm not blinded by any prior knowledge or history and I question everything. I can honestly think of dozens of great ways to promote WAU as a training centre as opposed to a "cash cow" which would specifically rely on not having prior knowledge or a wealth of experience.

I'd be much more interested to see a newcomer's fresh take on promoting WAU than most of the jaded, heavy sell, "get rich quick" styles that I've seen so far. I believe such a newcomer approach could be just as successful because they're finding their footing in IM and WAU, it's hopefully both interesting and exciting and their devoting their time and passion into learning "how to do IM". They certainly won't have forgotten what it's like to be a newcomer with zero knowledge and perhaps they won't over-promise and under-deliver like so many "experienced" IM'ers promoting WAU.

Just my 2¢! :)

As a newcomer, I am taking the route of "doing something I'm passionate about." I have to build my "niches" first and then go from there. However, not everyone will take the same route.

Don't get sold on the attraction of 'How to Make money' - Wealthy Affiliate is an Educational Platform that guides you on the appropriate steps needed, in order to set up an online business that can potentially earn yourself a respectable living.Money Making Concepts don't offer an educational platform but instead a Sales Pitch that sells it's own concept and nothing more.Build your niches first and once you are successful here then show the audience the Educational Platform you followed and used that made your niches a success.'Proof is in the Pudding' not in a bowl of Sticky Jelly.

I think it is possible to promote as a beginner as long as you approach it from a point of absolute honesty - say you are a beginner and this is your experience. However, lie you I wouldn't advise it as the first thing people do.

That is a very valid point Phil! I think that too many who are just starting out here think that promoting WA is a good way to go, not that it isn't but it certainly is a tough niche to approach, and you will need to be patient and work hard to make a go of it, ask me I know!
