Also, keep in mind that you don't have to use social media right away if you don't want to. There are successful members here who rely on other sources of traffic such as organic traffic (the core of what is taught here). You can be successful without social media.

At least consider that Kyle and others often advise not to rely too much on social media and focus more on organic traffic in the beginning.

My feeling is that there is little point spending time on social media if you don't have much on your website yet anyway. Build up your site first. Social media is extremely time consuming. It can suck up hours of every day even if you try to stay focused. Those hours could be spent adding content to your site with good keywords to bring in customers. Social media traffic can be very low in conversions (sales). Many people on social media and lookers not buyers. Organic traffic brings more buyers since they have found your site through a specific search term. I have seen Kyle advise focusing on organic content first and not getting sucked into too much social media early on. I was relieved when I saw that advice and pretty much stopped wasting time on social media at that point.

Of course this depends on your niche, your goals and your personality. If you enjoy interacting and 'sales' and have the right product, you could do well with a social media heavy approach.

Yup, social networking can be a bit of a learning curve if you aren't into it. If you need to pick one, start with Facebook. There are many training here that will cover how to best market on FB (organic and paid).
