The AIOSEO keeps telling me "Only 17% of the sentences contain transition words, which is not enough. Use more of them."

And...
"2 section of your text is longer than

Don't' be too concerned about the AISEO suggestions.

What AIOSEO is suggesting is that your paragraphs tie together better. connecting words, are used to link together different ideas in your text. They help the reader to follow your arguments by expressing the relationships between different sentences or parts of a sentence.

Here are some examples besides, furthermore, moreover,
however, still, nevertheless, conversely, nonetheless, instead,
similarly, likewise.
therefore, hence, thus, consequently,

Smaller shorter paragraphs are better than one that is 300 words long. Break it up and use a subheading.

I’ve gad same problem and when I go back and edit some of my sentences and paragraphs, I’ve found I haven’t got much movement, sometimes.

Hi - first of all, the suggestions in AIO should not always be followed. If you try and get the highest score, then your writing will look unnatural and robotic. Remember, you are writing for your visitors, not an SEO tool.

Transition words link one sentence to the next. They include - therefore, also, besides, firstly, as a result etc.

"I pushed the bicycle. As a result, it fell over."

Its up to you if you want to use them.


The second error means that you have one long section of text, more than 300 words, which people might find hard to read. So, it is suggested, you break it up with a subheading.

This is a valid point, readers will be overwhelmed by a long piece of writing with nothing to break it up. You could also add an image in the middle of it, rather than a subheading.

the connect two ideas. Such as "When you use this plugin it will send your posts out to many social platforms. Thus it is a simple method to quickly promote your blog."

You need to add more of these into your content. Google transition words and print a list of them to add to your content.

300 words is a long enough section for the reader's eye to understand. Go through your text and see where there is a very long stretch of text and cut it in half with an appropriate heading.
The first time I did this I counted each word to get an idea of how long 300 words look so that now I can easily spot this mistake.

Hi Lily - you can use a Chrome extension called Word Counter Plus, to save you counting in future! You simply highlight a block of text and it tells you how many words.

Using cut and paste to import content (Word doc) with images, the images never import. I am having to import the images via "Media" and then insert them into the page. Is ther

I found this plug-in called Mammoty.docx converter last night and just imported my web page including the images from Word, so far it looks the same, but I'm going to drill down a bit more.

I have found it so time-consuming to cut and past text; then upload images, insert them and the rest that goes along with importing or pasting content and images to the webpage.

It feels redundant and a waste of time. However, after reading all your experienced comments, about using text editor or block editor, I'm gonna research this a little more. Thanks for all the great feedback and support.

Hi Terry, I found out that I couldn't import pictures and the only way is using the media button. If you create a chart or a banner you will have to use the media button to add those too.

It's the only way.

Nope. That is the way to add images to your WordPress pages...

The media library is contained within each WordPress website. Each media library can be filled with images from your computer files (pictures folder, I also use a smaller _images folder for my websites).

Remember to edit your inages before uploading to your media library. Then you can compress them via whatever plugin you favor.

That's what I have been doing, and it's time-consuming. I found a plug-in called Mammoth.docx converter that imports my Word doc with images into Word Press. Just installed it and checking it out now.

Don't use word it s not compatible with the language of servers use the content writer or just write your content on your blog

the block editor is a lot more compatible with hte block editor and you can import tables from excel straight into a block...copy and paste...

don't add images to your word doc ...ideally don't use word...
but if you insist then export it as text and paste into your site
then add images....
you can have the urls or add them to your site as you find them...
word and wordpress are not really compatible
the block editor is more compatible....
but you need to upload the images to your site separately....
no real way around it apparently ....
you could try the classic editor plugin....

images in your wordpress doc are just links to your media library and not included within your code for your page...

Actually Phil, I used classic editor for a long time and it's the same issue with images. Images are a "stand alone" item in WordPress from my point of view. Which makes sense with all the image size reduction plugins that exists.🙂

So here's a few tips you could probably implement right away.

The homepage itself looks a little off just because there's nothing really in the main column. You have your logo at the top, there's an image that's above the entire site sitting by itself, and then a right sidebar that has some posts.

I would go back and simplify everything.

It's our nature to want to design our website and add color and change headers and so on, but as you're just starting off I think it's important to stick with the absolute basics.

I think the site would look cleaner with the title nice and bold up top. I'd remove that header image, and have the homepage set back to the default blog roll so excerpts of your blogs will appear there for now.

On to the content itself, the easiest way for your readers to take in the content is to have it broken down into ultra short, 1-2 sentence paragraphs.

I know this sounds odd at first, but online content is simply easier to read with white space.

We have to forget what we know about reading books and writing essays, and learn to write for computer screens and especially mobile.

A 1-2 sentence paragraph on mobile doesn't looks small at all.

I think if you make a few of those changes your site will suddenly look a little more established. And even though it's young, it will soon start to fill with content.

Here's a recent article I published if you want to take a look at things you like, things you don't, etc. Checking out other people's sites is always a great way to gain some inspiration and open up your creativity.
