What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It's the process of increasing the number of visitors to your website by improving its ranking in search engines, like Google and Bing.
In other words, SEO is what you use to improve your site so that more people can find it when they search for something using a search engine.
Why use SEO for your marketing strategy?
You can use SEO to help you build your brand and increase traffic to your website. It’s a great way to keep in touch with customers, and it’s free!
- SEO is free marketing. You don’t have to pay for ads or pay people to do work for you. This means that using search engine optimization can help you get more exposure without spending any money.
- Search engine optimization helps build your brand because it gets more people interested in what you offer, which leads them back again and again so they become regular visitors (and customers!).
What is a good SEO strategy?
There is no single answer to the question, “What is a good SEO strategy?” The best approach for any website depends on several factors:
- The type of business you run and its goals.
- The types of keywords your target audience uses to find information about your products or services.
- How much time and money do you want to invest in building an effective SEO campaign? But before we get into the details of these primary considerations, it's important to understand that every website has different needs when it comes to search engine optimization (SEO). Some websites need just enough traffic from Google searches so that they can convert some leads into sales; others are built around search engines as their main source of traffic; while still others have had success with social media channels like Twitter or Facebook instead of traditional webpages.
That being said, there are some general guidelines that apply across all situations:
Find keyword ideas.
Now that you know what keywords to target, it's time to find them.
- Use a keyword research tool. There are many different types of keyword tools available, and each one has its own strengths and weaknesses. If you want to do your own research and don't mind experimenting with different tools, start by entering a topic into Google's Autocomplete feature (just type "keyword" followed by your topic). You'll see what people are searching for when they type that term into the search box.
- Use Google Trends. This tool shows how often certain terms have been searched over time, which can help give you an idea of how popular those keywords might be at any given point in time or over longer periods of time if nothing else interests you about using this particular tool for SEO purposes..
Check out the competition.
Before you get started on your next SEO campaign, take a look at the competition. You can do this by using Google’s "related searches" box in the sidebar of the SERPs (search engine results pages). Here’s how it works:
- Enter a keyword into Google's search box. For example, if you want to see who is working on any given keyword, enter “best breast pump.”
- Look at what comes up under related searches and click through each result to see what they are doing well/poorly and how they compare with other sites ranking for that term. This will give you some idea of where there might be an opportunity for improvement or innovation in their strategy - something we'll be talking about next!
Measure and track your results.
Now that you've made some changes to your website, it's time to see if they had any impact.
There are a few ways to measure the success of your SEO efforts:
- Use analytics tools. Most search engines and social media platforms provide their own analytics tools, so use them! You can also use third-party tools like Google Analytics or HubSpot's marketing software to track conversions and search engine traffic on your website.
- Look for trending terms in Google Trends. This will help show which keywords are more popular than others at any given time, giving you an idea of what people are searching for in relation to your business or industry. Just make sure that these terms aren't too broad; if they're too generic (such as "business"), then they probably won't do much good for driving traffic directly onto your website because everyone else will be using them, too!
Optimize on-page content.
Once you have a list of the keywords you want to target, it's time to optimize the content on your site.
- Use your keywords naturally in the body of your text. Include them where appropriate and don't overdo it—you don't want to make readers feel like their eyes are being assaulted with keyword spam.
- Check the keyword density of each page using a tool like Yoast or SEMRush; aim for around 2%-3% in most cases (the exact amount will depend on what type of website you're working with).
- Find new keywords by looking at suggestions generated by tools like Google AdWords Keyword Planner or BrightEdge; these will help inform what additional long tail variation exists and provide insight into which terms might be particularly relevant for your audience.
- Look at related searches across different platforms (e.g., "red lipstick," "nude lipstick")—these words won't always be synonyms but can still help inform how people might search online, so they may provide great opportunities for content creation!
Don't forget title tags and meta descriptions.
You should also be aware of the importance of title tags and meta descriptions. Title tags are a brief, concise way to describe each page on your site. Meta descriptions are a brief summary of what you'll find on that page, written in plain language so that search engines can easily understand where your content falls into the overall theme of your website. The best way to think about these is as mini adverts for every piece of content on your site; they're another opportunity to attract visitors who may click through from our results pages!
