How do you consistently maintain 100% focus at all times?

I must be honest, a lot of times I find it challenging to
maintain 100% focus. I am typically interested in a variety of
things and usually at the same time(s). No it is not ADHD (Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder), when It’s
an urgent task that needs to get done I plunk down and get it done, but I do
believe that we are in the most stimulating time in all of history right now.

As we speak new inventions are being made, new knowledge created, and learning capacities are quadrupling at an astonishing rate, (the average person now with a computer connection, has at
their disposal access to more information than the richest men in history,
which was the source of their power) there is an onslaught of things to see, do
and experience as well as learn.

Just to give you a scenario while writing this article, I have my music playing and 3 other internet pages
up (Yahoo, Wealthy Affiliate, Pinterest plus my smart phone – Don’t judge me
lol), I still manage to get stuff done, but I can’t help the feeling that if I
shut off things more often I can increase my productivity. I know this to be
true, however it seems to be a situation of easier said than done.

So my question to you guys out there is:

What do you do to maintain 100%?

(Please share any tips and tricks)

Hold tight...

Simply when we don't have the urgency, we tend to be laid back. Just enjoy the moment. ...I find it very difficult to to and get grocery in the supermarket but when I just have to especially when I have guess coming the next day when I have nothing left in the store ..I will be so focus in my shopping list and wake up very early the next day. Waking up in the morning isn't so easy lol...do I make sense ...

I really need to focus on my tutorials ... I get sleepy just when I about to start. I don't get sleepy when come to watching a movie ...

Its a lot to do with discipline ...I guess

Radziah

Yes I can definitely understand that. Its all about the right choices. I just recently watched the Superman movie when I had a moment of free time and though it was good I couldn't help but feel guilty that I should have used that 2 hours to do some more training. Discipline is definitely key. Especially discipline in choice.

Nothing, just do whatever have to do.:)

I was inclined to go at it like a bull in a china shop. I would put in hours and hours day and night. Problem is that I would burn out.
I have discovered my best way for me personally is to work a certain amount of hours every day. As least that way I can be constant, instead of short bursts and lapses. Judy

That is a good strategy - blocks of time, that way you can get a bulk of things done.

I think it's impossible to be 100% focused, unless you're perfect! ;-) We have so many distractions in the world which is probably why it's good to make a plan of actions so that we are more productive.

you are definitely right about that.

It depends how important it is. If it's really important it's not that difficult to stay focused, but many times things really aren't that important so my mind wanders.

Hi - I can't really focus that well - right now, I've got a 5 year old insisting on sitting on my knee so I can warm him up. So I'm typing around him, with a big head in front of me - which I'm having to crick my neck around just to see the screen! And my eight year old is quizzing me on why his kindle charger isn't working :)

That's life though - I can't (won't) shut them out of the room. When they're in bed, after 7:30 tonight, I'll spend a couple of hours here in the discussions, and trying to move my websites forward too.

I know what the end goal is - it may just take me a little while longer to get there - so I'm focussed in so much as I know what's important right now (the big rocks analogy), I'll fill in the bits I can do in my own time (the sand) to fit around the rocks.

All the best, Mark

Thank you for the reply. That is also a challenge I face as I have 2 toddlers and nothing breaks up your focus more than kids, However that is something that can be worked around with some creativity.

For as long as I can remember I have never been able to focus on the task at hand if there is the TV or radio going, or whatever. I can't really carry on a conversation with the TV on either, unless I'm right next to the person.

For me it's have quiet so I can concentrate. I do have other tabs open, but I don't look at them unless they are part of the research I'm doing. I have a drink beside me and I do personal things (like go to the toilet) before I sit down. I find all this helps to ready my mind for the task at hand.

I also give myself a time limit - it might be 1 hour or it might be as long as it takes to put this post/article together. Then I do take a break. I'm unable to focus for too long on one thing, which is why I have more than one website going.

I definitely have those moments of not being able to concentrate. I like that method of the time limit I find that very useful when I have applied that,

LOL I know that feeling... I have 11 tabs in firefox and 3 tabs in Safari open now. I like to give myself bite sized 15 minute goals. If I accomplish it, I can gallivant for 5 minutes before I work on my next goal. This really helps me maintain my 100%. At least for 15 minutes! - Jane :)

Lol That is the way of the internet nowadays. You beat me by 1 tab the most pages I have had up is about 10.

I'm more task at hand oriented but i multi-task mentally and love access to instant info.
