What are the highest and lowest values that empower you?

I started on a journey about a year and a half ago to quit my job and stop working for a boss. I wanted and still want to be free to work anywhere in the world.

I started with a Digital Marketing course at the end of 2019. It was an intensive course that challenged you physically, mentally and psychologically.

One of the tests that we had to do was the Hierarchy of Values Test, of Dr Demartini, which determined your core values in life. If you don't know who Dr. Demartini is, he is a world-renowned specialist in human behavior, a researcher, author, and global educator. He has developed a series of solutions applicable across all markets, sectors, and age groups.

What is a value?

The value theory ( according to Wikipedia) involves various approaches that examine how, why, and to what degree humans value things and whether the object or subject of valuing is a person, idea, object, or anything else.

A value, in my opinion, is anything in your life that is a priority in your life. These are things that determine what you spend your time on or surround yourself with. They are the people in your life and things you like to do in your free time.

These values are there because we want to fill a void in our lives. Really? A void? My questions would be to you. Why are you at Wealthy Affiliate? Is it to have an extra income? If you had enough money, you would not have a void. The biggest void in your life will determine your highest value. These voids and values can change over time, and that is why it is crucial to see if you reached the goals that you set out for yourself. Did you fill the void and moved on to other values.

I did the test in December 2019 for the first time, and they keep the scores on the website. When you do a test now, they will compare the two tests and see for yourself if the scores changed. I was astonished to see that there are significant similarities between the two tests.

In the test, you are asked 13 questions, and I would suggest that you take some time and do this test. Do this early in the morning in your quiet time where you can be alone and undisturbed.

Here are the questions. They are personal and answer them truthfully. If you trust your marriage partner enough to reveal what is going on in your life, you can do this together and share the outcome. It is not one of those stupid questionnaires. It can be life-changing for you to realize where you are at the moment in your life.

Question 1. How you fill your space?

Question 2: How do you spend your time first, second, and third most when you are awake?

Question 3: How do you spend your energy most? What raises your energy most?

Question 4: How do you spend your money most?

Question 5: Where are you most organized and ordered?

Question 6: Where are you most spontaneously disciplined and reliable?

Question 7: What do you think about most?

Question 8: What do you visualize most?

Question 9: What do you most often talk to yourself about?

Question 10: What do you most often talk to others about?

Question 11: What inspires you most?

Question 12: What are your most consistent long-term goals that are coming true?

Question 13: What do you love to learn or read about or watch on YouTube most?

Step two is to try and colour code these answers. You see that specific answers have the same topic. You'll see that among your 39 responses, there is a certain amount of repetition, perhaps even a lot of repetition. You may be expressing the same kind of value in different ways, for example, "spending time with people I like", "having a drink with the folks from work", "going out to eat with my friends", but if you look closely, you can see patterns begin to emerge.

For me, I noticed that Affiliate marketing was one topic, and Teaching was another topic. Once you have colour coded the things you believe to be together, you give it a category.

Lastly, it would be best if you wrote down how things are in your life at this moment when it comes to your finances, family, free time, physical and mental health, or whatever you want to share and write down. It is personal and would not be shared with anyone. Once you are finished, you can get a PDF file, print it or email it to yourself.

Please like this blog post, do the test and share what you learned about yourself. Did it help you at all? There are no affiliate links in this article, so I will not get any benefit from this, except that it will change your life because you could self-reflect and see where you are, but in a year from now, when you want to do the test again, you can see how far you have come.

Conclusion

We at Wealthy Affiliate are all here for a reason: Some to make money, some to have a better future where you can be financially independent, some looking for love and acceptance, some looking for career opportunities in the community. Whatever you void, you will work hard to fill that void, and that will be your highest ranking value. Let's discuss the outcome of your test.

One final thing: do you know about https://www.futureme.org . It is a website where you can send a future message to yourself. So copy your last description , and paste it in an email to yourself for 6 months from now or a year from now. You will be surprised to get an email from your past you. You can do the test again and see how your life was 6 months or one year or even 5 years ago. You can even make a video and see how your hairstyle was.

Interesting, John!

Jeff

Did you do the test? It is very interesting and life changing. At the moment my career and future is crucial so that is why Affiliate marketing and Teaching is my highest value with the biggest void. My sister survived a suicide. Her highest value is herself now because she has to work on herself. I am not even on my value list. So I wonder if that is good or bad.

No, John! Not yet, I'm afraid, but I will try to work it in somewhere! This will be a topsy-turvy week!

I hope it is a great week.

I've had a lot better, but I will try and remain optimistic about this week's outlook! One day at a time!

Jeff
