Three Crucial Things Before Moving Forward

Yesterday marked my 3rd month as a WA premium member. This is a special milestone for me because a lot of things happened within that span of time. My first 2 months was somewhat more difficult because of all the new information that I was taking in, oftentimes, simultaneously.

I'd like to think that I'm a pretty organized person. However, being here for 3 months now has made me realize that owning and managing a website is not at all a joke. I must admit that there are moments when things get overwhelming.

Don't get me wrong; I am very happy with the WA program. But, I was already a busy person (prior to WA) as a wife, a mother, a homeschooler and as a homemaker. Above all, my spiritual life is very important to me, so I choose to make time for it. Imagine how much busier I got when I became a WA member.

Honestly, I got so engrossed with all the wonderful things that I was learning that I failed to notice there were already certain areas in my offline world that seriously needed my attention. I just can't function well online if my offline world is not where it should be. So, I decided to step back and do three crucial things first before moving on. I'd like to share them with you.

  1. Revisiting your purpose.- Why did you join WA? If you're a mom (or a homeschooler) like me and your child is still young, it probably has something to do with him or her. Most likely, you want freedom in terms of time. You want to be there for your kids. You don't want your time with your children to be at the mercy of a 9-5 job. However, despite the wonderful set up that WA offers, we can still fall into the trap of getting too busy and losing “the why” of things. It's just liberating to go back to the reason why we chose this path in the first place and to make a conscious decision to not be enslaved by wrong prioritization all over again.
  2. Defining success your way.- With so many members and so many stories that we hear about on a daily basis, it's very possible to lose one's focus and simply copy someone else's definition of success (sometimes, without even knowing it). However, we all know, that we are all different from each other. Our background, our experiences, our passions, skills, circumstances, priorities, etc.- they are all different. So is our WA journey. The face of my success can be very different from yours and vice versa. It's very freeing to embrace this truth. I think that we spent enough time in the past allowing others to define success for us.
  3. Sticking to who you are. Recently, my son and I watched the movie, Moana. It talks about discovering who you really are and remaining true to your design, your passion, your calling. When we are in touch with these, we gain a much clearer understanding of the next steps to take as we do our business. Ex. what niche to choose and pursue, what products to offer, what to write about, etc. I pray and I let this inner compass guide me in my decisions. I do seek advice as well but I make sure that I'm not deviating from who I am.

Realizing that I needed to stop and do those steps first has helped me in an amazing way. If you’re a mom or a homeschooler and you're doing this business in WA, you (most probably) could relate with me. This is especially for us. I'm thankful for the book, Mom's Mean Business by Erin Baebler and Lara Galloway. It was instrumental in helping me realize these valuable lessons. I hope that it helps you as much as it has helped me.

You're welcome, Tricia.

prioritizing is very important.

Self definition is important at any start point in the road!

This post is wise advice. I think that periodic reassessment of things is very important. Thanks,

You're most welcome. Thank you so much as well.

Powerful writing there, and a good attitude. Now I am older, I can compartmentalise things better, and not allow overload. When you have family and work issues it can get tough. All you can do is keep doing what you are doing, and keep things as balanced as possible. It will get easier. Best wishes, Chris

Best wishes to you, too, Cris. Thank you for sharing your thoughts and wisdom on this topic.
