Affiliate Networks - How Do They Work?
Supposedly, when an Affiliate Marketer gets accepted by an Affiliate Network, the network manages all the affairs of the companies under the conglomerate.
But I was surprised after being accepted by some big networks, to find a long list of companies under the conglomerates, that I had to apply for their individual assessment. In the niche I have selected for my first website, there are probably hundreds of such companies!
I went down the list sending applications, not even knowing where the list would end! Needless to say, I didn't reach the end of the list. And needless to say, some of the companies under a network that has accepted my application, have themselves turned down my application!
I find this situation contradictory and confusing. As new Wealthy Affiliate Members, I am sure we are anxious to cover a lot of ground, affiliate with as many companies as possible, as quickly as possible, do our WA Training, and continue to build our websites.

I like your motivation and your desire to get there. Personally, I preferred to take step by step for the affiliate program in order to take the time to know the product. Over the months I have had more and more affiliate programs and Amazon is not the best program to move forward serenely for my personal experience. I find it easier to work this way.

Toboho I feel your energy and your desire to be successful I know you will get to where you want to be.
WA is not a get rich quick network it takes time to build trust with these companies and right knows Amazon will not suffice what you want to achieve. With Amazon, if you do not produce a sale in a very short amount of time they will kick you off.
Don't pay to much attention to that there are may fish in the ocean. Amazon is going through a lot of changes. Write the question to the members.
You will find it above your profile picture it says questions. Write your question( Is amazon a good affiliate marketing company?) there are many more affiliate marketing companies you can ask the members (What are good affiliate marketing Companys?)
Always a better way my friend just keep up your momentum

I am the WA representative for both Awin.com and ShareASale.com. We are the largest affiliate network in both the US and the world.
You are incorrect in assuming that just because you get accepted into a network you are automatically approved into all of the merchant's programs or even into any of the merchant's programs.
Your acceptance into the network confirms to the merchants that you have met the network's requirements regarding site quality (this is about technical issues, promotional strategies, not about site design or content quality).
From there, you must apply to each merchant. Depending on your niche, many of the merchants on any given network will not be appropriate to you, so applying to them all doesn't make any sense. Apply to only the ones which are relevant.
Each merchant has their own set of criteria for the affiliates they will accept into their program. A big part of that is relevancy to their products. Why would a merchant selling kids clothes want an affiliate with a site about garden tools in their program?
Target and apply to the appropriate merchants based on who actually fits your niche. The rest don't make any sense.
Hope that helps.
thank you Jeannine.
You have absolutely clarified as to why being accepted into a network cannot lead to automatic affiliation with all of its programs.
I suspect the tutorial on Networks in the WA Training will have to be updated, not unless I am the only one who misunderstood what was being said.
On the issue of my applications to the member merchants under the networks, you may have not seen this part of my post: "In the niche I have selected for my first website, there are probably hundreds of such companies!" I filtered out the merchants dealing with my niche. And there will always be many such under Health / Wellness / Beauty. It's unavoidable.
We may have discussed about Awin before, when I was asking about the payment they requested when I applied to them. I will revert to them later.
Does ShareASale also require a deposit please?
I did see that part of your post, but wanted to include the additional information because I believe that others reading this may benefit from the information as well.
There is no request for a credit card when applying to ShareASale.
I've also explained why that is part of the process on Awin.com in this post: Why does Awin want $5 to join their affiliate network?
thank you.
