Johnsonism - doing the johnson
TIME MANAGEMENT
I often carve out production time in my schedule simply to create content. By the time I am in a place to put the content together in some intelligible form, a lot of research has already taken place. I want to ensure I am sharing important, well-researched, well-meditated-upon information. The very nature of the niche is to pinpoint that one area in which to create one’s life journey, as I fondly refer to it. Maybe, for you, it is called (insert your niche of choice here). As I sit down to write, I ponder how much my writing style changes based on the intended audience.
LIVING IN A CONNECTED WORLD
We are living in a world in which individual success, lifestyles, choices, culture, not only play an active role, but are celebrated in daily life. And yes, unfortunately, negative themes, or assumed failures are also shared ad nauseum. Failure can take on a negative connotation. However, if I experience an unexpected action, response, consequence, i.e. failure, I see this as a learning opportunity for me. I let it roll off my back, as I learn the lesson and cannot be bothered by this result going forward.
OPIONIONS, OPINIONS
Everyone has opinions on many different topics. We are all on the same playground now, though. That makes for a beautiful opportunity to learn new things, listen to alternative ideas, share pieces of ourselves with others on a grand scale. Maybe the sharing of information changes mind-sets or original opinions of the topic(s), and maybe it prods us to find out more.
JOHNSONISMs & DOING THE JOHNSON
As I write, much like when I am researching, or, even especially when having a conversation, my mind takes off on any number of an unlimited number of available tangents. This happens a lot not just in my conversations, but those of immediate family members, also. As a matter of fact, it is such a routine practice that my siblings, my parents, and even other family members and friends refer to this as a Johnsonism, or, “doing the Johnson.”
CONTENT POLICE, WE HAVE A RE-DIRECT
I work on redirecting myself back to the task at hand, which is delivering information, be it through a slangy, conversational mode, or in a more professional manner, in which spelling and/or grammar will be and appreciated by a specific audience.

ENVIRONMENT MOTIVATES
Now, back to my production schedule, already in progress. Sometimes a change in environment can really improve my focus. I love to utilize my local library. It provides an environment conducive to content creation. I visit so often, that the employees see me as a regular. And, as a regular, I also notice other regulars. This an area ripe with ideas, as I am literally surrounded by bazillions of words.
WARM-FUZZIES
Then there is the soft side, the human side, or, the warm-fuzzy or not-so-warm-and-fuzzy side. I have brainstormed so much just being prompted by people watching. In the area where I usually plop in the library, I can people watch. I get so excited about the possibilities and topics for my content that I cannot even take notes fast enough. Hence, that’s when I get on the laptop. My thoughts come much faster than my fingers can type.
These people, these “regulars” all have stories of their own. I’m chomping at the bit to help write them.

I liked your post Tamara! When you refer to doing the Johnson, does that relate to the old saying, "Keeping up with the Johnsons"?
The saying, I believe, is, "Keeping up with the Joneses." Doing the Johnson is an inside family joke we have, meaning that it is common that we all divert the conversation many different ways before we get to what it was we were shooting for in the first place.
