One Hundred Posts in Three Months

When I first joined Wealthy Affiliate, I decided from the very beginning I would set my initial goal at 100 posts in three months. WA recommends blogging your success, so here it is.

This morning I finished number one hundred with about a week to spare. It has been a whirlwind or writing, but I had a couple of advantages.

First of all, I am a writer and an author of eight self-published books. Secondly, my site is about seniors and as I am a senior relevant topics to write about came easily.

IT'S NOT A RACE

I'm very aware that the road to success with Wealthy Affiliate is not a race. There is no point in hammering out post after post that is poorly edited, poorly formatted, and with sub-par content. That would be doing a dis-service to your visitors and actually to yourself.

You can't fool Google by posting articles that are too short, without proper inbound and outbound links, irrelevant content and a plethora of Affiliate links that make your site look like a link farm.

I was very careful about this and that's why my articles took an average of four hours to write. Today, article #100 took five hours. So in essence, I spent at least 400 hours writing for my Weathy Affiliate website.

TRAFFIC STILL TAKES TIME

Because you write articles quickly has nothing to do with gaining more traffic. No matter what you do, Google will take it's sweet time deciding if your website deserves to be on the first page of search.

For example, I've only had 10 visitors from Google of the 463 visitors I have had in the last month. The other visitors came from social networks. You just never know what Google will do. Six weeks ago I had four posts ranked #1 on page #1 and they disappeared a day later.

Of 100 posts, 67 are indexed. I guess Google is still trying to catch up.

With just those four posts on page #1, traffic was crazy for one day. I can only imagine what will happen if Google ends up liking my content and all 100 posts make the first one or two pages of search. I guess time will tell.

SO WHY DID I DO IT?

Well first of all, I don't have a life. I only work three days a week and have four off. I'm single, no dog to walk or cat to feed. I don't drink, party, socialize much, or go out to restaurants. So in a nutshell, I don't answer to anyone, so I can do what I want pretty much.

Also, I like to flyfish and wanted to get this done while there was still some Summer left so I can get out there for the first time this year.

Most of all, I have been driven all my life by an obsessive/compulsive personality. One day I decided to take up running so I could run a marathon, and it became over 30 marathons, 100 10k races(or more) a couple of 50 mile races and 11 Ironman Triathlons. I couldn't stop myself until I got injured and had to quit.

One day I decided to write a book, but I couldn't stop and wrote eight of them.

So this is what happened with WA. I just couldn't stop until I was done what I set out to do, and here I am.

If you have a compulsive personality it can be devastating if you choose drugs or alcohol. I decided long ago to take another direction and I chose creative compulsions.

SO WHAT NOW

Although I was careful to do all I was supposed to do in every post>>>>iimages, links, social media, comments, Table of Contents, meta desciptions, and Categories etc.etc., I plan to go back and look at every single page and try to make it better.

For instance, it's important to link each post to other relevant posts on your site. I will be able to do that better now that I have more to choose from.

I also plan to look at how to monetize each page a bit better if I can.

I will also continue to post, but only two or three times per week as opposed to a post a day and sometimes two posts a day as I was doing.

THE WAITING GAME

Now it's become a waiting game. I'm waiting to see what will happen with Google.

How long before all 100 pages are indexed? How long before they reach the search pages? How long before the traffic goes balistic?

I'm not sure when all this will happen, but I have no doubt that it will eventually.

In the meantime I feel confident that I have done all I can to get my foot in the door. I am currently paying my Wealthy Affiliate membership monthly. My plan was to pay for a year when I earn it from my site.

There is no way of knowing what will happen, but I will do another blog when my website takes off.

I hope it does.

Well done, I had the same goal by the end of the year, but due to other businesses have had to reduce it back to 50.
Just did number 30 yesterday.
Thanks for sharing your success, and congrats to you
Darren :)

Thank you for your response, Darren.

There's sure nothing wrong with 25 or 30 or 50 posts. Sometimes a website will get awesome results with 20 or 25 posts. It all depends I suppose, on what the niche is,

Yes, that is right.

Thanks for your message.

Darren :)

I love your drive, focus and energy. I don't know if it should be described as obsessive compulsion disorder or just plain deciding to discuss some hing and putting everything you've got into it. I would be happy to have half of your energy. I have no doubt you will be successful. Jim

Thanks, Jim, but that is actually what I have been diagnosed with. A result of growing up with no mother and an alcoholic father.

My life could have taken a far more sinister turn but for the grace of God. Well, and the Boy's Clubs of Canada who gave me a sense of self-worth when all hope was lost.

How long until you made your first sale?

Hi Ryan. That depends totally on you. The more good content you write and the more you streamline your website the quicker the results. It also depends what niche you are going into. Jim

Right I was just kinda curious what is better 100 average post or 25-50 Good quality post.

Ryan G

Good quality always. I know of one member who started earning money after just 20 posts. They all ranked well.

Hi Ryan.

I have only made one small sale. It's very hard to make sales without traffic and most of my traffic was from curious people on social media and WA people doing comments.

I didn't really expect otherwise. I just have to wait for Google to recognize my website. I wrote a WA blog about the Google Sandbox that might explain it better.

Welcome!
This is a great community of like minded individuals!
