Six months in Kenya

What an amazing experience and privilege to be here in Kenya, living with the people and walking alongside them in their daily life.

Sandy and I have been here for just two months of our six month mission here in Kenya.

These beautiful colourful people help us to experience the simple life of day to day existence.

Teaching us by their actions how to love and serve each other to make life more interesting and uncomplicated.

I have been coming to Kenya for the past 18 years as a missionary/evangelist and I am transformed again each time I visit here.

Sometimes I am here for a few weeks and often for years at a time, living among st the people in the towns and remote villages.

The village life is very different to the towns and cities. Many of the village people live without money, they grow their own maize and vegetables and are able to survive on that.

The difficulties arise when they want to send their children to school or if they get sick.

Many children are not able to go to school and a lot of them die from water-borne diseases and malaria. Think about that .....for the need of $1 a person can die here!

We are able to provide some medical treatment and medicines or a little money for them to buy what they need to survive. How I wish we could do more.

Our mode of transport is generally on the back of a motor bike, that's fun, as we chat to our driver along the way sharing the love of God, many are coming to know Jesus.

Quite a wonderful challenge.

Thanks for sharing. I think the summer I spent teaching English in Ukraine for orphans of the ongoing war with Russia was the most fulfilling thing I have ever done. Helping others while discovering and exploring this big blue marble is what make me happy.

God Bless you and the work you do.

Make a living, make a difference.

Mark

Thanks for sharing your journey Sylvia. You are a blessing.
Keep up the good work.

Hi: I am glad I stumbled on this post. Thanks for the beautiful pictures. I am Cameroonian and can relate to the pictures. Seeing the pictures of the ladies remind me of my aunts and mothers I left back home. I feel sad to see children and their parents still living under such conditions. Missionaries have always been welcomed guests. Thank you for going out there to spread the word of God.
Thanks, Joan.

Awesome, thanks for your service to those in Kenya.

Missionaries are the ones out in the field doing such great work.

We have been big supporters of mission work in Africa.

Great to connect with you, He most certainly is faithful.
Darren :)

I'm in a rural area and I belong to the indigenous group so I can relate with the situation the Kenyans have. Thanks for this information. But mind you rural folks are loving people.

Some people describe my tribe as uncivilized. How do other people look at Kenyans?

Thank you for sharing. I hope you now speak a little Swahili. (unakwendaje huko?)

Hi there,
I do speak a little Swahili but mostly the tribal language of Luo.
I love it here and try to make every day count...such a beautiful simple life.
