Self Publishing on Amazon

Amazing how easy it is to publish a book on Amazon.

The hardest thing is to start your story.

We all have a story and a testimony about our lives, the good, the bad and the ugly.

I love reading about peoples lives and also enjoy listening to older people as they recall their memories of long ago.

Their childhood, their hopes and dreams. Their times of joy and sorrow.

I remember about ten years ago someone told me I should write my life story.

Of course, I said that my life was not finished yet and I had a lot more adventures to come.

Well my friend kept asking me if I had started writing yet and I with a little shame said no.

I didn't think I could write!

But, as I said, we all have a story and my life has been extremely exciting and so eventually I began to write.

I would start and stop...procrastination as it's called.

So, after 10 years in the making I finished my autobiography. And told my story of my adventures in Africa.

What Next?

I asked people to read my book and give me some feedback.

That was a good move.

Somehow I heard about Upworks and found someone who could proofread and edit my book.

Next I was to get my book published.

I discovered it didn't cost anything to publish on Amazon and they would also print books at a very reasonable cost.

I found someone in Bosnia who had an excellent reference and I went ahead and he published it for me. At last my book was published.

I thought about what my next step would be and I decided to have my book translated into Spanish.

Back to Upworks again for a translator and my book is now in two languages.

So my post today is to encourage people to write their story.

Just get a paper and pen and begin anywhere your memories take you.

Life is a journey of unexpected experiences.

This is part of the introduction: to my book.

Introduction

Who would believe that someone like me would be able to touch thelives of so many people?

I was an ordinary girl, coming from very humble beginnings butgrowing up to live a life of unexpected and remarkable experiences.

I was born in an industrial town in the middle of England with tallchimneys and terraced‐type houses in long rows. All the houses hadclean‐curtained windows competing for “best dressed.”

My life was a journey to discover through life’s hardships and joyswho I really am through many amazing experiences. These adventuresbrought to life the dreams that lay dormant on my journey ofself‐discovery.

There are people waiting to hear your story.

Thank you Sylvia for sharing a part of your journey and for the inspiration to try something that most people wouldn't think of trying. Always wanted to write a book, never got there. Thanks to you I am inspired again.

Thanks for sharing, my wife is currently in process of getting her life story completed prior to publishing. I would like to share your encouraging comments here to encourage her. Looking forward to hearing more of your progress.

I loved reading your story Sylvia. You have done so much in your life by helping others and have such a giving heart. I’m not writing my own story quite yet but I am in the process of writing my first fiction novel.

I found it’s quite enjoyable creating characters and a plot however it’s the editing and publishing I’m really doing my research on. It’s definitely a learning curve.

Thank you for sharing your story as it was an inspiration for me to start writing. It was scary to start but once I did, the words started to flow. :)

God bless,
Renee

Thanks for your encouragement Renee

Well done .So glad you did it. I have several published ebooks on Amazon and it still amazes me that over the years I do not promote them too much anymore yet I still get a few royalties once a month from work I did years ago. :)

Well done. Very inspiring. I am definitely going to self publish a book. There are so many resources available that make the process so much easier.

Great job!

Good for you/ I have self-published a book. The writing was easy, but the editing was another story. Like everything else, it's the marketing which is the trick. Best of luck with the book.
