Can someone help me with my Google Analytics ?

Last Update: May 13, 2018

Hi everyone, i've been away for a while but i need some help with my google analytics account. Since i moved my site to an other host, chnage my theme and registrar, google isn't saving a part of my trafic origine and add it directly as "direct". I know it's because of all the changes and i've been in contact with the 3 of them and G. Analytics too. Nobody can't found why.

Is there someone with new idea ? DO you think it's possible to erase my tracking code and add a new one ? Maybe it will solve my problems ?

Thanks,

Sylvain

Here is a video that might help you, I don't think you get a new tracking code if you move your website. Or this article here, Hope these are helpful.

Hi, thanks for your answer but i don't have any problem on how to connect my tracking code or how to add a tracking code. I already have it.

I'm just looking for someone with an idea of why part of my trafic is goind to "direct" instead of organic or social. This is an erro for sure, as i can't have 400/people/day from direct trafic. Before i move my website, i only had around 50/day

oh I see, Sylvian, sorry! I read this article a while back and I noticed an increase in direct traffic when I added an SSL certificate.

I'm not sure what happened and why and that's why i'm looking for help here. Maybe some can help me to figure this out. I also changed SSL certificate with my new host.

The question is, is there a way i can reset my google analytics ?

If you do, you can lose all your data, you can ask the Google forum when you are logged into your analytics. They are quick to answer questions especially in regards to their products.

Yes will loose all my data but that's not a problem actually. I will prefer to lose it all (save it before) and then have accurate date from GA.

What forum are you talking about ?

I'm referring to Google's forum, I've asked questions there before regard their products and they really got back to me with great answers. You may want to ask there and you might get some great feedback.

It could be your new hosting too, each hosting company runs their business differently, it could be a lot of bots that were blocked before and now you are getting a wave of them. You can ask your hosting company too why there is a spike in direct traffic.

Thanks, i've asked around on the forum and someone helped me but the issue isn't solved sadly.

I've asked to my host compagny too and google analytics and it's not bot traffic for sure.

I need to look deeper than that.

Did you make tags, cuz that can double your traffic, other than that, I wish I could help. Another thing you can do is, re ask the question again in here and see if someone else may answer your question or go to live chat.
