Where do you get inspiration?
Here goes, I haven't written a blog in many years, but I learned from a teacher many years ago that you get inspiration from all around you. How do you start? There are so many ways. You can play word games to kickstart your imagination, go to a museum, visit the zoo, just about any event, take a walk in the park, people watch just about anywhere, visit some funky shops, or just look around your home and open your eyes to what you have and care most about, go to your favorite haunts. Once you get started you may not be able to stop. To help you, enlist a supportive friend and throw out words, ideas and let your mind roam free. Sometimes, the sillier the better.
I have found inspiration in things that I have dropped and need to pick up. Or when I am looking for something and find something that I thought was lost. How about when your conscious mind goes to sleep and your sub-conscious goes to work, and you wake up in the middle of the night or in the morning and have this terrific idea? Sometimes, it is just the repetition of an idea/thought/phrase/word, like when you read or hear something then someone else mentions it. By the third time, it seems that this must be an idea to explore. Write those ideas down. So what if you don't use them all! It's an exercise to keep the brain limber. WORK IT!!
Some of my greatest ideas have come while I was in the bathtub. No lie! My friends know that I like to take baths, especially in the winter and sometimes I have very inventive conversations with them while in the tub. Much laughing and cursing and silliness abound, but at the core we find a way to create a topic that is of interest to a group we belong to. We share this idea for contemplation, sometimes the idea is thought provoking and sometimes lighter to break things up a little.
We are so caught up in our daily survival that we need to take a break from survival, and have some fun, play a little, or even let off some steam and let the 'ah ha' moments free.
Find your place to let your imagination run. I know that the bathtub and, oh yes, my convertible are great places for me.
Rambling Suzy out.
