So Bummed Out!

Man, I am so bummed out!! I have to admit my feeling are hurt as well. Getting a referral is exciting. Getting your first commission check from the referral is wonderful. Having them cancel their membership SUCKS!

Let me tell, this referral was doing SO good. Her website was amazing. I enjoyed talking to her on a regular basis. I visited her site often and always left comments, shared her site on all my social media networks. And then one day, today, I see that her membership was cancelled!

There was no private message, no thanks for all your help and encouragement, no goodbye, no nothing. I guess maybe I shouldn't take it so personal but I do! It isn't the money that upsets me. It is the personal connection that I THOUGHT I had made with this person.

I don't know what happened! I don't know if it was something I did, or something in her personal life. I wish I had a clue. Whatever the reason, I wish her blessings in whatever she does! Hopefully one day I will see her here again. I really liked her and seen a bright future for her and her website!

I signed up originally in 2007, built a quick site and canceled in first month. 20 sites and couple dozen domains later, I'm back I just returned in December. It only took me 9 years be ready for WA

Very cool Jd, Glad your back. You said it took you 9 yrs to be ready for WA. If you don't mind me asking, what made you more ready now then 9 yrs ago?

I'm a DYI self made kind of guy. I thought it was as easy as all the hype hucksters told me it was. I failed at every easy thing I ever tried. I finally realized that even the hucksters knew how to succeed. SO I got tired of failing and decided to learn how to not fail any more.

That had to be hard. I'm sorry. I used to sell Cutco Knives way back when I was knee high to a grasshopper and my first sale excited the heck out of me. But then the company informed me the customer had cancelled the order prior to shipment. Oh man! I was so upset! I lived solely off of commission back then. It was horrible. So I sort of understand what you're feeling. Try not to take personally, it probably had absolutely nothing to do with you. It just wasn't right for her at that time. You did all you could do.

You can lead a horse to water but not make them drink. Definitely don't take it personal. You'll drive yourself insane if you try to over extend yourself helping those not even willing to help themselves.

Another good quote to remember. In her defense though and what makes me worry is that she was not one that didn't want to help herself. She worked hard to produce a great website in a short amount of time.

Well thats saddening to hear that she made good progress then gave up. However, that unfortunately is the usual culprit for many. The realization that success takes time, hard work, and even failing a few times. They slowly lose momentum then give up. I'm all for understanding peoples situations, except I'm also a firm believer in the following (quote by Jim Rohn). If you really want to do something, you'll find a way. If you don't, you'll find an excuse.

We never know what others are going through really. Maybe circumstances will change and she will be back. Sometimes I feel like disappearing too! ~Gina

I am hoping that she does come back. LOL I hear ya about disappearing :). Only I wish I could disappear to a deserted island with my laptop, pc, cell phone, my cats, and my dog! If even just a for a month or two, or three :)

Sorry to hear.Perhaps there is a solid explanation. Dont despair,I am sure more will come your way.

All of the best to you.
Roopesh

Thank you Roopesh. I know I need to grow and go on. There will be others but I tend to take things too personal and I need to work on that. My hopes are that she continues on no matter where she goes or does because she really did have a great website!

It's a shame when people don't take the time to say thanks or give a short explanation of why things have changed for them. You are the bigger person for still wishing her well in her journey :)

Ya Jude, I really wished you would have given me a heads up. I wouldn't have wanted anything personal, just given me chance to say goodbye and wish her well in whatever journey she decided to take.

Sorry Suzette, I know it hurts, and I know you feel terrible about it, but you did what you could, you offered your friendship and assistance. So whatever happened to your referral ( I hope she's alright) it has nothing to do with you in person.

I hope she is alright as well Loes. Being me, I will be concerned for her for awhile!

My first referral came, made a terrific website in 2 months time, and went, came back a few months later for another month and went again, but I must say, his website is a stunner!

I understand how you feel, but since this is a school, do keep things just professional in future and not so emotional; and there are so many people, just spread your wings a little wider you don't feel it that much when one person leaves. it's like losing a good customer but it happens Sue

Thank you Sue, I do need to spread my wings! Being more professional and less emotional will be something I will have to work on. :)

Hi Suzette. It is hard not to feel like maybe if you had done something different or this or that, but truthfully, it wasn't you. Who knows what was happening in her life and this one just wasn't meant to be. Wait for that next one, as it is surely coming. :)

Your right Michelle, I do think I did everything I could for her and I don't know what her situation was. I just feel kind of bad because she was doing so well. You're right, I have always said, "everything happens for a reason". Thanks for the encouragement! :)

I know exactly how you feel. I am a rehab counselor in a 1 year residential treatment facility. It happens regularly and I never get used to it.

I have gotten a bit more used to people clicking on the signup form then never following through. But this one was different. I don't think I will ever get used to not feeling like I lost a friend when someone like her just leaves without saying goodby. That might sound corny to some, but that is just how a I am.
