To Blog or not to Blog

I've been thinking a lot lately about typing daily blogs about whatever topic that pops in my head that day. Maybe it would be about a lesson I learned that could be of help to others. Or maybe it could be about a specific saying that I grew up with that meant something to me and I wanna break it down somehow in order to get others feed back.. Or maybe one of my family members or pets did or said something funny and thought the rest of the world might laugh with me.

I know that having a website about a specific niche is ideal for making money, and I plan on doing that. But what about random blogging. Do you think it's possible that I could just blog about whatever leaving specific keywords that draw people to the blog; with a few ads that may be related to whatever topic, or maybe generic ads like hosting ads or whatever?

I want to do this for a couple of reasons. 1) it will help be get back into the IM business as I've had a hard time making myself work on my site. 2) it will help strengthen my writing ability and 3) I have had the urge to write about random things, mostly opinion, but I believe that's the point.

I would love to hear back from you and your experience in blogging. Is this a good idea? If you have blogged like this or blogged period, what has been your experience?

Hello there!
Let me suggest some thing: Adding a g+ icon and then doing Google Hangouts is a good idea ... just like using Skype and setting up your own group can be very profitable ... :)

I would say... do what you feel... It is not easy to build a following in the blogging world.
That being said, and as long as you know that is the case, I would pursue it anyway because it is what you truly want to do.

Now, the real work begins... you must do your homework... look at the top women bloggers(so you can see what it takes to be good)... what do they blog about... see if you can figure out why people follow them... how often do they post? how often are you willing to post? How do they tell their stories... what makes it interesting? there is much to be learned studying these blogs. This exercise is not for the purpose of copying them, but rather to find and fill a blogging niche, to see what makes them work... to know what you have to do to break through the clutter, what types of ads are on their blogs, etc.

Most people are more interested in hoping what they find somehow connects with their life experiences or to be entertained. Also go to Amazon and look at the top selling women's books... what are they about? What are women willing to take the time to read about? Escaping, fantasizing, self help... what? Thesse are all barometers that can help chart your course of action.

Whatever you do, Make it interesting, draw them in with great story telling, bring it to life with photos to help tell your story... who knows, you may become a top tier blogger.... You will find a following, but before you start, think long and hard about who you are trying to reach because to attract followers, you must first know who they are and where you would likely find them... Good luck! look forward to knowing when you are ready to post your first blog... When they arrive at your blog, you have 3 seconds or less to have something there that will make them want to click... Have that something, and half the battle is over... :) Julie

Thank you so much for your suggestions. I would have not thought to research top women bloggers. That is a great idea. It makes sense. My thought process in all this is to blog about random things. There have been days when I have thought about something that I would love to know how others think about and just blog. But I've never put thought to paper so to speak. It would almost be like doing a daily journal.

Anyway, thank you again for your suggestions. I will definitely do this.

By setting up a blog site this way, would it be beneficial to me to set it up the same way as a normal site rather than going to a regular blog site? Suggestions?

You are above the curve thinking this way but just pick the best domain name that will reflect this even if it is your own name or a fictitious name like movie starts and writers use.

As long as you present quality content you should do fine.

I say go for it :) At most it would only cost you $10 a year to operate. Just make it enjoyable and easy. I would suggest you focus on your niche site to monetize though. :)

Absolutely you can. You can blog on Susanna's world which gives it a local feeling but gives you as much width and variety as you'd like. If it's your first website, you can use it just to get the experience of building a website. I would definitely build it by going through the Certificate Training but nonetheless, I think it's doable. You'll more than likely find multiple ways to monetize it from the music that you love to the vitamins and wellness products that you believe in. You just may have a winner here!!! (-;
