The Ripple Effect
Yesterday I attended training in London. I live somewhere outside of London and therefore had to catch a train in the morning. I had my trip all planned out from the previous day, having booked my ticket in advance and checked the train times. I was quite disappointed to find my train had been canceled due to crew shortage. I had to patiently wait for the next train. Needless to say, I was late for my training
While on the train, my mind started to wander. I thought about the ripple effect of this one act, by one or two crucial members of the train crew. I am not being insensitive to their reasons for not being able to come to work on that day but they obviously had good cause. It may have been a family emergency, sickness etc. My point is, the ripple effect caused by this one act does not just end with the immediate work place. The effects are quite far -reaching. I was late for my training. Somebody else may have been late for an interview, or missed a life changing opportunity. The list is endless. This one act made me realise the impact of one’s actions or inactions, how they can impact hundreds of people differently. The power of the ripple effect cannot be under estimated.
If one were to turn that same power of the ripple effect to their advantage! Imagine the impact we could have as business people if we utilised that same ripple effect to positively impact our target audience. Which ever way you look at it, through the power of our content writing, we are impacting a lot of people. Even through our inactions we are also impacting people in a way. Who are we short -changing by not committing to write that content consistently?
Imagine the thousands of people whose lives you are touching everyday with your writing. Imagine how many more lives they also go on to impact as a result of you having taken that first step to start your business of helping people solve everyday problems.
Let's go on and make that difference.

That's so true Derek. It is ever so important to be self aware and mindful of how our actions are impacting the people we come across. The aim should always be to make a positive impact. We have so much to gain by doing that.
Thanks for this, just what I needed this morning. Time to go make some positive ripples ; )
Hello Sara,
Why not? We can certainly make a huge impact through our small contributions. No better time than to start now. Thanks Sara.
Hi Sitheni, hope that you didn't miss too much for your training opportunity.
The ripple effect is real, and most often we only see a couple of ripples away from our perception and observations.
The content we create has the ability to reach out far beyond our experience and the amazing thing is that it works tirelessly to do so.
Good thoughts, Sitheni thank you for sharing.
Thanks for your positive response Alex. We can all harness the power of the ripple effect to our advantage. Fortunately, I only missed a small part of the training.
We don't often think about the ripple effects. Thanks for bringing it to our attention. I never would have thought about the consequences of not writing content. Jim
Hello Jim.
Thanks for stopping by. It just hit me as well that we do still impact other people by our in actions. Think about the number of people who may have gained something from your writing if decide not to write. You just never know who is waiting to hear that positive encouragement from you.

Great post Sitheni. The ripple effect does work both ways. Thanks for the reminder that what we do or do not do does affect more people than we realize.

Thanks for your contribution Ray. That's so true that the ripple effect works both ways. It is unfortunate that we tend to just focus on what we do and forget about the omissions.
