Blogs have become the heartbeat of our business. Now, I know some of you will say that YouTube is the way to go but for many of us, we're still blogging. So what are 3 Little Things that can help you achieve big things if done right?

1- DO YOUR HOMEWORK

This is so important it bears repeating over and over and over. Remember WHO you are writing for and WHAT that person needs. Understand your target audience throroughly so that you know how to serve them.

I know as a kid, I would PRAY for a LOT of snow because that meant school would be closed and I'd have time to do the homework that I hadn't completed. Now, even if it snows, people are watching you so just do it! It's worth the effort.

2- NEVER Talk down To Your Readers

Treat them with dignity and respect and possible compassion. You are providing a product

or service and you want to establish a good rapport with them. You want to build trust and establish authority so that they will WANT to purchase from YOU. Don't lose them.

Many moons ago, I took my car in to the dealer for service. It was retired by then so I had time midweek. When they told me how long it would take, I was surprised but willing to accept it. HOWEVER, the guy said to me "well, what else do you have to do?" His TONE said "I'm sure you have nothing else to do" He was pretty tall and as you know, I'm .... well, not! I didn't care. Hungarian woman kicked in. He never said another word. I can not tell you how many calls and letters I've received from them but I will NOT go back there!

3- Headlines

Statistics show that on the average 5 times more people read the headline as read the body of a blog. We're all busy and have to pick and choose what to read based on our current priorities So lead with a strong benefit so they want to read more.

I found this handy little tool that might help you too https://seopressor.com/blog-title-generator/result/

Earlier today Lazyblogger wrote a blog and the one think that stood out to me was his point about subject lines. He was talking about writing business emails but the same concept applies to our blogs.

People want to know WIIFM (What's In It For Me) and how they will benefit by opening the email. Well, the same applies to our blogs and headlines.

There's a lot of competition in some of the niches but we all see things differently and our personalities are different (thankfully). Readers will graviate to someone that they feel comfortable with. So do the best you can to make that person be you. It all starts with your blog!

Happy Blogging!

Hugs

They may be three little things only they count for a lot. Anyone of them as you rightly say may cost you dearly they may not be SEO important nowadays only you can be SEO brilliant however you talk down to your audience and we will see what good that SEO is for you.

Funny that decency and a genuine intention still count for a lot a heck of a lot more than people give them credit for that's for sure!! ;

Have a great day!!

R.

Yes, they do whether brick and mortar (ie ads) or online.

🤣🤣 I loved it Debbi, when you said the "Hungarian woman kicked in", I can imagine what you said to him, that he will remember to be nice next time. Words matter, and I do exactly as you do, if I'm not treated well, I leave and never come back. I like your #2 thing which is about "Never talking down to our readers". We need to carefully choose our words.

Well, in my case, there's talking down and talking DOWN. This guy was (as most) much bigger than me. I gave him a piece of my mind but, to me, it's important to do it without swearing or making a scene.

Thanks for stopping.
