Why I bleed WA points and fall down in ranks.

Points. I have earned a lot of them at one point. It felt good to see 4-digit rank number next to my profile picture.

And then it went wrong.

Or did it?

I really like how this community operates. People who contribute get rewarded. People who don't (like me)... well they don't get rewarded. Perhaps they are penalised? Rank is lowered - feels like demotion a bit. What do you think?

Anyway, there is a good reason for me bleeding the points on Wealthy Affiliate Platform and that is - I am quite busy looking after my retreat business. As much I would love to contribute here I have to set some priorities.

You might say that this is saying "NO" to certain things. There are some good books about the subject. Choosing one not both will always mean I will miss out on something. And I fully accept that. And if you, reading this, are in a similar position feel like failing, don't. It is fine. You are much better off doing one thing well than doing 2 things way below your standards.

Sid down alone, think what is the most important action to take next. Do it for the day, maybe for the whole week. If posting something on WA is not among these items on your list - tough.

On the other hand you will serve the community better that way. People are overwhelmed, maybe even overburdened with poor quality content. I prefer read less but reed something meaningful than read a lot that gives me little value - much more optimised performance and time management. And people here will not have to dig through pile of sh** to get to something good.

So guys. Set your priorities and bleed points if you have to.

Hi Kevin, I have had to have a refocus and re-evaluation of time and resources (not just financial) recently, so reading your motivating post struck a chord! Many thanks, you have inspired me to keep going with a smile, Sue :)

glad to hear it.
the name is Jacob though ;)

maybe I should post a little training about it...

So sorry, no idea what happened there, I knew your name was Jacob and I don't know a Kevin? I know things have been stressful recently, but... crazy woman! I actually proof read the reply too, so am off to sit in a dark room for a while! Have a positive week, Sue :)

no problem at all.
Believe me I made worse mistakes than this.
I am glad you like the post ;)

I guess you could be referring to inane posts or replies like that last one I made. Or maybe to this one.

You make a good point. I agree that its important to add to the community if you have something to add, but posting for points seems unnecessary. Isn't Posting for Points a TV game show.

It is just for "art" itself, as you said.

I know exactly how you feel. I personally feel that It is important to be part of the community, but on the other hand, you also have to work at your actual business. Being in the top rank is also a great thing, you feel awesome being able to help others, but sometimes we have to be a bit selfish and also look at our end of things.

One other thing I do relate from your post is reading meaningful content. I have a huge monster of thousands and thousands of unread emails just sitting there. I totally lost control. I resigned myself now to browse through the titles and choose which ones I take the time to read, I have to take control, but then again, I have no time to do it. At this point, I'm about to delete all of them and start anew.

I did bleed a lot of points since being in the top 200, and I'm ok with that. I chose to answer questions that I know the answer to, and the rest, I chose carefully which I take the time to read and or answer, so your post was one of these I guess. Have a great day!
:)

Denis

You mentioned a very important issue. Helping others.
My take on it is I have to be in a good position and shape to help other. This is what you said about being a bit selfish.
Because if I am not in a good shape I will be unable to help others.
Therefore being selfish in this context is again about performing optimally.

Exactly. You have to be in a good position in order to be helpful. I agree 100%. No use posting on a question and not being able to answer properly. Take Care!
