Can Sharing The Links Of Our Posts Be Considered A Black Hat SEO?

So, I remeber one post of the Brian Dean from Backlinko.com, where he was talking about how one of his friends post ranked on the first page of Google. His friend did a test and asked 500 people to click on the link of that post which lead Google to believe that article is really good and boosted his rank.

He also mentioned that this can be considered as a black hat SEO, because obviously it is not how the things are meant to be on Google.

So what is your thoughts on this? Can we or will we get penalized for massively sharing the links of our posts and letting people click on them?

Thank you.

Google is smart enough to pick up on phoney schemes such as Bulk Backlinks and the few people (500 is not a big number) will not make any real difference to your ranking!

Inserting the external link into this post is an example of why this is so wrong! By inserting this link, you have created a backlink in the most obvious, and inappropriate way! WA does not allow promotional links, only links to educational content!

In essence you are giving this guy credibility by linking from the WA site, which has a strong status in the network marketing niche!

Backlinks have been around for years ... this is just another self promoting "guru" giving people poor advice ... the only time it makes a real difference is when the sites are congruent and the site linking to you has greater ranking than yours. The key is there has to be a logical reason for the link ... similar content, same niche, similar target market, etc.

From the Google website ....

Any links intended to manipulate PageRank or a site's ranking in Google search results may be considered part of a link scheme and a violation of Google’s Webmaster Guidelines. This includes any behavior that manipulates links to your site or outgoing links from your site.

I did not intend to advertise anyone. If he is a guru than pretty much everyone from WA is one :). And his posts are ranked high on the search engines which proves he is one of the best at SEO game.

He is also competing in one of the most competitive niches so he knows what he is talking about.

I forgot if it was 500 or 5000 but it was a really big number. The point is, his advice helped me a lot and I do not think he is lying to people :).

Thank you for the post.

By this logic, any paid advertising is a black hat option.

Well no, because paid advertising is controlled by Google and you pay to get on the first page. And of course you pay to get clicks.

This way you create a post and ask people to click on your link so you could rank better. When you look at it, you could probably outrank someone who is longer in the business, just because 500 people clicked on your link in one hour or similar.

I was thinking of Facebook advertising where you target people to click on your links. It's the same thing so there is nothing wrong. Also think about giveaways, incentives, and the likes.

So, this is nothing to even think about.
