1- Be realistic when you choose your goals and make plans.

You need to be humble and reasonable when you set goals for yourself, and deadlines to achieve them.

For example, if you want to lose some weight, don’t just dream about it. Be realistic and set an attainable goal. You’ll never lose 5 kilograms in 5 days. Or if you do, you’ll quickly gain it back again (and often a lot more!) after you stop dieting.

2- Keep your mind flexible.

In life many things don’t work out the way you want. That means, depending on how much real progress you make, you should perhaps be ready to modify your plan of action.

You can only learn through experience. Keep your mind flexible, and adapt to changing circumstances. Also, don’t get all worked-up if you don’t achieve some of your goals in the time allotted. If that happens, simply extend the deadline.

But being a little self-indulgent is not an excuse for being lazy or negligent. Don’t give up on your goals unless absolutely necessary, and do everything in your power to achieve them on time. A delay can only be justified by events that are beyond your control.

3- Don’t hesitate to ask for help.

If you haven’t achieved your goals up to now, it may be because you haven’t been using the right methods. There’s no shame in admitting it.

If you can’t meet a deadline, why not consult people who can help you with your approach. Exterior advice from people who have already gone through what you’re dealing with now, can be an incomparable source of wisdom, and help you save a lot of time.
