Living Near Water

Humans have lived near water ever since we came to earth I would say. And we still do this right now. It is therefore not so crazy to think that things can go badly wrong when something does happen with this water.
Natural Disasters
As such we have seen with storms everywhere in the world, but this time also Norway is targeted again.
And boy what a damage a bit of water can do. Just here near our house is a lake and a river that takes the water from the lake to the ocean. It was running out of its borders because of excess rain and mountain rivers that ended up in the lake. Our bridge had to be removed (pedestrian bridge). Some of the houses that were built exactly next to it, had water damage.
In the city center of where we live, cellars were flooded. Several tractors were busy pumping the water out again.
In other places people were less lucky. Here they lost entire buildings and cars to the water. Roads were flooded and destroyed and bridges collapsed under the rivers violence. Factories were overrun by a river right next to it and had to close down.
Even now, some days after the worst floods, many roads are still closed because of either floods or avalanches and mud slides. On our next trip we will need to make a big D-tour, because of these road blockages.
How Water Tight Is Your Business?
Apart from your house being water tight, how water tight is your business? Can it withstand a storm? Can it handle less a month of less sales?
With affiliate marketing you at least will not have as high costs as with a regular business. But you will still be paying for WA membership (hosting) and perhaps a Jaaxy license. Or that plugin or editor. Or maybe a PPC campaign. They all cost money per day, so every day without a sale is counted here.
Luckily, when you are not there, your business will still be there and that is the advantage of the passive model. But even though your business is passive, you will still have to be active to keep your site going and staying at top level with everything.

Yeah things are fine here again. Let's hope not more excessive amounts of rainfall will come. I heard today that there are storms in Europe. The Netherlands had strong winds today and has closed their airports and canceled lots of flights. Here its peaceful, but colder. Winter is coming I think. But that's the risk of living in Norway and higher up in the mountains.

Yeah things have turned better now. Although a lot of roads are still closed. They got to clean the mud and fallen trees. Some people lost their houses, others need to be pumped empty and will be able to return.
We live luckily higher up the mountains and are not easily threatened by it. But the lake and stream next to our house was affected and caused some troubles for nearby holiday houses. They got damage on their ground level floor and garden.
We have no damage so we are fine.
So glad to hear you are fine. It has to be hard to see the struggle and devastation around you though. Try to stay positive, this too shall pass.
