Trials and Tribulations

So, I have been working on my website for just over 2 months. I have learned quite a bit. But, I was (and still am) getting impatient about the lack of traffic to my site - still not satisfactory. So, I ventured out and started to look at new ways to generate traffic. Sadly, I was disappointed to find out that EVERYTHING out there that helps drive traffic has a cost associated with it. Then, I thought well, maybe I should create a landing page with an offer. But, I don't have anybody on my mailing list so no point in having an offer or a landing page. I am at a standstill as far as content goes - running out of ideas. I have sort of lost my "drive". I have and continue to do what Jay and others on this site recommend to do to help drive traffic, but I am beginning to wonder if my chosen niche is overused? Every program out there says that the Health niche is what they call "Evergreen" - meaning that it can be a profitable niche. But every topic that I try to build a post or page on, has been covered a million times already.

Sorry to vent -

Hi Steedaman,

Did you watch Jay's Live Niche Training Series? I think those were helpful. Check out the Live Video Classes.

You seem to be making good progress here at Wa. It takes time for some new websites to get a lot of traffic, just be patient. I think you will get it.

Carol

Oh my gosh! I started in March and still not through the certification course. You are doimg AWESOME!!!

Veronica said it best. Give yourself a break. Everything happens in time.
You're rock'in and roll'in!!!

Mark - Taking a break is a good thing - it will allow me to get my thoughts together..

I appreciate the compliment! Thanks

Nothing is overused! The Bible is composed of scriptures that are read over and over again. People continually find new meaning in the same of words. And new readers constantly need educating!

Mkearns - thank you for the analogy - you're right - and it's something that I forgot about for a bit. I will remember this moving forward.

Thank you Again!

No need to apologize, Scott, we all have our setbacks and disappointments.

But, may I offer some words of encouragement?

Dude! You just joined in April of this year and completed the certification already! That's quite an accomishment, Scott! It took me almost a month to get passed just one of the courses!

I don't know what your schedule has been, but if you haven't done so already, go out, enjoy and celebrate your accomplishments! Afterwards, perhaps you can set up a schedule for yourself, if you don't already have one. Set up specific time to wtite content, a specific time to work on social media, a specific time to learn all you can about driving traffic. Become the Yoda of driving traffic! But the foundation is developing quality content. The last thing you want is for traffic to arrive but they leave quickly because the content is just not capturing their attention. Which leads me to my last point...

Yeah, the health niche is saturated. But there's one thing missing: you. Your voice, Scott is missing. So, perhaps, instead of focusing on all that's out there, focus on how you can capture people's attention with your voice. How is it that 10 people can look at the same painting but come up with 10 different interpretations? Ask yourself what angle can you present this information that will give the reader a new and fresh perspective.

I get it...you want your site to make you the big bucks! Me too! But, if I'm not having fun along the way, more than likely, it will show up on my writing. And when trafiic I really want does finally arrive, they won't just leave, they'll run!!!

Ok....so now it's time for me to offer my apologies for my mini post, lol. Hope this was helpful in some way, Scott. I would love to see your next post entitled "My Celebration" or something like that, with a picture, so I can have proof that you took some time to chill out!

Dudette! :) I really appreciate you saying what you said! I guess I kind of lost track of what my duty is when it comes to writing content - I got so wrapped up in driving traffic and making money, that I lost track of everything else.

Thank you again!!

You got it, Dude!!!

A couple of thoughts:
-Have you tried narrowing your keywords to topics that get some traffic, but not so much competition?
-Creating an offer is a way to get people on your mailing list. Check out Kyle's article: Hope this was helpful.

Thank you Sophia - I will have to try those suggestions and take a look at this training.
