Relax, Recharge And Reflect

It is Sunday.

What do you do on Sundays?

Depending on your season in life, culture and family traditions, and your lifestyle choices, you may be busier today than on weekdays.

If you are not in the super busy group, then you may be a "must have a regular plan" person or "let's see how it goes" type.

Sometimes, it is OK to do Nothing!

My 3R plan for Sunday are to Relax, Recharge and Reflect.

Relax

"You need to empty your mind, and relax each other muscle group until you feel like you are going to melt into the floor. Then you just let it all go. All the expectations, all the unneeded worry, all the other things people want for you but you don't want for yourself"

- Kasie West, Lucky In Love

I don't know about you. Most people tell me they live fairly stressful lives and I believe them.

Therefore, we all can do with some relaxing on a daily basis in small dosage. However, on a Sunday, you may have more time to "chill out."

We respond to relaxation differently. Some may find fishing peaceful and relaxing, others stressful being outdoors under the elements just waiting for the fish to bite.

You need to discover what makes you relax so you know how to relax and response to stress.

The following are some common suggestions that work for many and maybe you too.

  • Do nothing, close your eyes and allow your body to rest and empty your mind. Listen to relaxing music helps
  • Do some stretching and massage, acupressure and releasing the tension from muscles help relax
  • Find a quiet place and read a good book
  • Take a quiet walk in the park, make sure you look at the green scena
  • Find a quiet place and drink tea, the scent in tea does wonders, you can also try aroma theraphy

Once you find something that works for you, just relax whenever you need to.

Recharge

“People who do a job that claims to be creative have to be alone to recharge their batteries. You can't live 24 hours a day in the spotlight and remain creative. For people like me, solitude is a victory.”

- Karl Lagerfeld

A question to ponder...

What will happen if we recharge ourselves as often as our phones?

I wondered too...

How do we recharge?

  • Sleep or nap. Catch up with your sleep especially if you have been so busy and lack sleep.
  • Take an outdoor walk
  • Exercise - do your favorite workout, go cycling, gym etc...
  • Spend time with someone you appreciate - practice gratitude
  • Meditate
  • Do something fun
  • Drink water or tea - you may be experiencing dehydration

There may be some overlaps in how we relax and recharge. For some, the same activity will relax and recharge at the same time.

Recharging is to refuel yourself, to give you the energy to take out another week. To push yourself harder and further.

If you don't recharge, you may feel defeated and have no strength to carry on.

Knowing how to relax and recharge is the secret to sustaining and long race.

    Reflect

"Being gritty doesn't mean not showing pain or pretending everything is O.K. In fact, when you look at healthy and successful and giving people, they are extraordinarily meta-cognitive. They're able to say things like, 'Dude, I totally lost my temper this morning.' That ability to reflect on yourself is signature to grit."

    - Angela Duckworth

What am I reflecting this week?

I was reflecting what I did wrong when I shared what I thought was a "global concern" that affects many of us to be accused of making a political post.

I received the longest comment response and links to "correct" me. My thought was the person could just PM me and I remove my post and that would be the end of it. Instead, now, I have a long opinion to deal with and what does the action of me deleting the post with all the comments at this point.

A dilemma which I wasn't sure what to do...

I was accused that my post is a waste of their subscription fees here at WA. I did not want to turn customers away from Kyle and Carson, therefore I stopped engaging in that post and reply in a comment giving Kyle and Carson the right to remove my post.

Therefore, I made sure the two posts I made after that avoided all the words and images so that I am "politically correct."

One post I made defined me as political and "wrong" when I am not even a member of any political party and have no interest in politics.

It made me feel I let WA community down...

What about the other 45 posts I made, more than four thousands members I welcomed and the thousands of blogs comments and questions I engaged in all in the spirit of Paying It Forward?

I want to thank members who were supportive with encouraging words.

Did it caused a concern to me?

Yes, enough for me to reflect on.

Will it cause me to quit what I am doing?

No, this is a good thing and far outweighs an accusation

How would I do it differently?

I am not perfect and I will make mistakes. I give all of you permission to PM me when I make such mistakes so I get a chance to correct myself.

Thank you for reading. Wish you a great Sunday.

There is a purpose to relax, recharge and reflect. The reason we are here at WA. It is to ensure we can endure the journey and win the crown.

'Life is a journey of tenacity. Only the tough gets to thee top through the storm. Take the steps one by one though the errand may be arduous. Never give up though you may grow weary. Think of the purpose though its attainment may be tough. Dare to get to the crown through you may meet the obstacles. You are never born to relax all day but to dare to do the undone. If only it is reasonable enough withing the real reasons of your life, and if your soul and spirit convince you of getting it done, then, you have the real reasons to dare the crown."
