I got a comment on one of my posts that has a link in it. Is this considered spam? Should I delete this comment?

Hi..

It’s great that you’re keeping an eye on your comments! In this case, the comment does look like it might be spam, especially with the link included and the email address provided. While the comment starts off positive and acknowledges your content, the link and additional details are red flags.

I’d recommend marking it as spam or trash to avoid any potential issues, especially if you don’t recognize the sender or the link seems unrelated. It’s always better to err on the side of caution with links in comments. If you’re unsure, you can also check the user’s profile or do a quick search to see if it seems legitimate

You have fantastic responses here. You can delete anything that doesn't add value to your posts or blog, including links.

It's spam, but you are always in charge of your comments you can delete anything that feels off

Yes, mark as spam and move on. Naturally as you start to get content indexed, you will see some level of spam like this come in.

Could I possibly get you to take a quick look at this site. I started my WA promoting website right before or during the last big update, I got demolished on this site and another. The other site is just now starting to recover but I cannot figure out what is happening with this one. I get maybe 1, yes 01 impression every 30 days. I feel like I must have made an incorrect adjustment or something.

Hello Steve,

Personally, Steve, but I think just looking at your blog, you have far too much AI content. I'm not saying you haven't changed the AI content at all, but the problem is that it's not your own unique experience.

So many people are using AI and are all coming up with almost identical posts, especially when it comes to promoting Wealthy Affiliate and similar products.

AI can really help to give us ideas and help us overcome writer's block, but when it's a popular topic, I believe it's more important to make it more unique or our own.

I hope this helps. It would be good if other members also commented.

Incidentally, your original question is definitely something for the spam folder!

Wishing you all the best.

Roy

Roy,
Thanks for the advice. I will definitely make some changes to my published as well as future posts. I agree with you that it would be good if other members also commented but I guess they nobody is going to.
Sincerely,
Steve

Good morning Steve,

It's a pleasure, Steve!

From my own personal experience, I have found that AI is quite knowledgeable on popular topics, like Wealthy Affiliate. However, if I'm writing about something that's not particularly popular, AI will right absolute nonsense! I don't normally use AI to write content, as I know my niche fairly well.

The problem is that when someone writes a Wealthy Affiliate review using AI, the reviews are all very samey and similar. I don't believe that this content will rank at all well in the search engines.

Regarding what I am saying, you could even ask the community a question about what I have said. I don't mind if you refer to me in the question or even quote what I have said. You will probably receive more answers in the actual question section of the platform.

Have a fantastic day and I wish you every success.

Roy

Thanks Abie. Do you recommend the WP Rocket plug in? I am using the WP Optimizer but it's not handling this.

Yeah absolutely! However, you cannot install it with WA hosting.

Hi Steve,

Is that on your index page or is it in a post?

It's a post.

Did you create the post on the site content platform?

yes sir.

Cheers, Steve,

When you publish a post from site content to your site I'm pretty sure the way the post title presents h2 can't be changed.

You may have been able to change it if you'd copied and pasted the text from site content into WordPress rather than simply publishing from WA Site Content.

hope this helps

I thought that might be the case. Thank you, Andrew.

Good morning. I am getting some noncritical issues on some of my comments. Is this something to worry about?

Thank you.

Np Steve, and you're welcome :)

Hi - it's nothing to worry about.

Structured data is a way of helping Google know what your site is about, and how it should be presented in the search results.

It's incredibly complicated and requires knowledge of coding.

However, the error you have received is not relevant.

I presume that you have now got some comments on your posts?

So, Google has now mistakenly identified your website as a discussion forum, which obviously it's not!

So, you can ignore it, it won't affect your site at all, most of us will have had these so-called "false positive" errors from Google at one point or another!

I forgot to attach this screenshot. Yes, it is on Comments/feedback.

I believe it is a theme issue. It has been tested that the code would be in if switched to the Kadence theme. The problem will then be fixed in GSC.

Is this with leaving feedback on websites? As you have said, it's non-critical, which suggests that they're not, but, like Abie, I'm not sure what you mean either.

Can you clarify? I am not sure I understand.

Are these related to SEO, UX, or something else? You say these? What are these?

I used custom HTML in a Widget to display an ad banner but I can't find the option to have it open in a new window. Can it be done?

Thanks.

You are welcome, Steve :)

It looks like Phil has you covered here; you need to paste that in the text interface, i.e., your custom HTML, for it to work.

You need to add the attribute target="_blank" to your html.
