Hi all,

Don't know if anyone else has had the following happening to them. But for the last three weeks I experience a pop up from Windows stating that my licence will expire soon - they require that I put in some or other code from the agent that sold the laptop to me .......is this normal?

Thanks...................Johan.

It's possible that it's scam, but if your computer download window 10 automatically, after 1 year you must buy the full license to re-activate your windows 10.

What the other guy here said, never click on a email link if you do not know the sender. I've got a antivirus / firewall on my comp who check everything even email. You can use it for free, but I've bought a 10 year license.
Webroot is the name of the program, I've tried millions of these so-called antivirus /firewall programs, but webroot so far the best.

Hi there, how much did you pay for the 10 year licence?

Nog nie so ver nie, maar hulle sal seker binnekort begin skree, by Orion seg hulle kos di ding R5000, maar gaan na incredible connections toe, glo hy sal goedkoper daar wees, sal ook maar wanneer die tyd aankom by IC n draai gaan maak.

Jy, lekker gekuier?

O genade, sal moet jok, bieki vergeet,is nou al so 2jr terug, hulle het verskillende opsies, besoek hul webblad. Jammer.

You have been spammed. Microsoft never acts like this and the reoccurrence alone is suspicious, So head right over to the trash bin!

Yip, it is spam for sure, we live and learn every day!

Hi, Johan, never click on any links in emails that look suspicious. Click on block this sender and place it in your spam folder, and never, ever click on the unsubscribe link as this is another sneaky way of placing malware on on your site.

Hi there, yes you are correct in saying not to click on these so called links. However, this happened as I turned on my laptop and then every now and then while looking at FB, for instance, it appears on the screen. And asks me for my Windows product key code. But luckily I have not clicked on anything. Thanks for the heads up.
Take care, Johan.

Definitely not normal.

Also think so ....not normal at all.

Johan.

I doubt it's normal Johan. I suggest that you be cautious in responding to such notifications. Scammers are uping their game everyday!

I suggest you look and find your windows product key. Here is a link to find it if you do not have the label on your laptop or have windows 8 or 10 I noticed today my new laptop does not have the label or my kids I bought a laptop for Christmas and it doesn't have one either.

It sounds like you may have malware on your system. I would find the key now if you don't have it. You may need to reload your system to clean off all possibility of your system being infected.

At a min, if you have your product key you have proof of ownership of the windows on your laptop. Unless it's an official Microsoft letter I would not respond in any way to the message or form that pops up.

http://www.howtogeek.com/206329/how-to-find-your-lost-windows-or-office-product-keys/ follow the directions and store your key away in an offline place in case your system goes down.

Rob

Thank's Rob, will do that and luckily I have not responded in any way, take care, Johan.

Wow, I never heard of this. I'll be on the lookout when this happens to me. Thanks for sharing, Johan. Out of curiosity, what version of Windows are you using?
Armand

I'm using Windows 10.

This definitely does not sound normal Johan. If there were an issue, Microsoft would have sent you an official notification via email informing you of this. It sounds like spam. Do you have anti-virus installed on your laptop? If not I suggest you get it installed.
Jerome

Yes indeed I have also never heard of this and yes I do have anti-virus protection installed. Will let you guys know what happens. Thanks, Jerome, take care, Johan.
