I think I'm finished with my site
Well, not totally finished of course because we always have to add content and keep it updated, but I think I'm finished with the basics. I plan on making/adding a video and my product review page is blank but the core is there. Plus, I haven't added any affiliate links yet ( maybe one) because I'm having an issue with one. But, I'll get that solved in the morning.
It's not the same site I started building as I watched Course 1 Lesson 4 on my first day as a free member but it's better...much better I hope.
I'd like to thank everyone here who came before me who had blogs filled with knowledge and inspiration, questions I needed answers for that had already been asked, and everything else that makes WA a really special place. If someone told me 6 weeks ago that in March I'd have my own hand-built website I would've laughed in their face ( not really, I'm too polite for that...but I would definitely have thought they were nuts).
Since I've never built websites before I really don't have much of an eye for style, what works well, and what doesn't. This is my first attempt so my site may not be easy on the eyes or easy to navigate.
My site is here http://homebottledwaterservice.com/. If anyone would like to check it out and offer any criticism it would really be appreciated. I feel like I'm wearing a new shirt and forgot to remove a tag from it so I'm a bit antsy about the whole thing.
Anyway, thanks for reading this blog...I'm hoping I may be at the point where I can stop worrying if my website looks and operates well and concentrate on adding content regularly and adding my product reviews with affiliate links!

Yeah, never actually finished but I want to be at the point where I'm adding regular content and maintaining everything else.

I think your site looks great. No problem with the image on my end. It seems everyone in the tread touched base on what I would suggest except the privacy policy I would put in the footer or somewhere else instead of in your blog.
Just put words in footer and have open on a different page if they click it.
I would for sure put your home bottled water service in caps.
Looks good....love the reference to a tag on your shirt....it's how I feel a lot! Good work

I had the PP on my main ( top) menu and I didn't like it taking up that valuable real estate. I knew it wasn't blog material but I wasn't sure what to do with it. Putting it in the footer works for me though...thanks!

ya I didn't like it at the top either, you can check out my site how I did it if you want.
Also, if your making commissions on any affiliates I think you need to do a affiliate disclosure too.
I wasn't sure what the rules about that were before until I did some snooping around here on WA and it seems to be necessary.
I got the one I used from someone's blog here that said anyone can use it too. So, if you want you click on mine and copy to paste onto your page too.

Ya, I wasn't sure if you are selling through affiliates or not. I guess if it's your own product or business you don't need it but if you have links to affiliates that you will make a commission on you do; at least that was the conclusion I came to reading posts about it here in WA.

This is IMHO and just my suggestions for your website. . .
1) Capital letters for 'home bottled water service' in your header and make it a larger fond, you want your title to be eye catching.
2) Instead of just one question, how about 3 questions:
Are you thirsty? Are you well hydrated? Are you ready for the BEST hydrating system for YOU?
3) In the first paragraph on the page: 'Get home bottled water delivery service'
“In my opinion, the best way to enjoy the benefits of a good bottled water is to have home bottled water delivery.”
Put your first sentence LAST. Your next sentences have a lot of punch and they talk directly to the reader. The first sentence (above) actually (IMHO) makes a great conclusion sentence for your first paragraph.
And instead of saying 'In my opinion' because drinking filter water for our health REALLY isn't based on opinion, but scientific and medical facts.
Instead say:
'I am here to share with you... the best way to enjoy the benefits of a good bottle water is to have home bottled water delivery.'
Or...
'I want to share this thirst quenching service for you... the best way to enjoy the benefits of a good bottle water is to have home bottled water delivery.'
In conclusion: These are just my suggestions. Otherwise, it is a good website. I like the water photo in your header and it is well designed. Good layout for your pages. Well done.
Thanks MyraBeth. I made a header using Photo Scape ( thanks for the video BeYou!)and I think it's a definite improvement over the Wordpress default stuff.
I also changed that first paragraph as you suggested. You're right, it works better with the first line being my conclusion.

Hi Dave, I just looked at your site and my eyes are not the best so I found that your heading blended in with the picture........its not a big deal but maybe a change in colour? might help old farts like me !! ha

I would delete that widget
And I don't see a blogroll, you have a static page, but no blogroll page
to create one
add new PAGE (it have to be a PAGE)
Call it whatever you want - blog or blogroll or waterfall (leave the content area blank)
Then go to customize site>static page> and point the blog to your just created page

I agree on the widget, I guessed that when I start getting more comments from the bank that would change but I'll delete it for now.
I made the front page static because that's my main sales pitch and I wanted it to be seen when visitors get to the site. It was originally a blogroll but I didn't want what I consider my main page to get lost down the page and not have a chance to be seen.
I guess visitors can land on any page from a search engine inquiry so I'll change it.
This is the kind of stuff I wasn't sure about..

No, you are not finished! But finished with the start, I see you are saying. What fun. Anyway, good start. Really have to commend you for doing so much and you are on your way.
Only thing that strikes me, reading your "Oasis .." post, is that the title is really long. I think this is a way it used to be recommended to do post titles: get everything in the title. But I'm not sure it is currently the most recommended way, since it's not easy to read. Maybe check with some others who are more in the know.

I think it's too long also...but that's how everyone who reviews it has it listed so I was afraid to shorten it. It's not placing very high so I'm about to trim it down and see how it does.
