Blog Experiment
Last week I posted a short to medium length recipe on my recipe website. Since I had not posted in a while, busy with holidays and sickness in my house, I did not spend a lot of time on the post and really just wanted to get the recipe published because I had people asking me for it.
I was so surprised when Google indexed that recipe within 24 hours! I wonder if Google can tell the difference between regular "blog" pages and "recipe" sites. I really do not like going to recipe sites and having to sift between pages and pages of someone talking about their grandchildren to have to get to the recipe. I know we have been taught to make our posts 1,000 words or more, but I really am wondering if Google knows the difference!
So, this is what I did. Today, I posted another recipe. It is just the recipe with a small introduction. It was actually easier and I will be able to get more of these out if this is the case. I will see how long it takes Google to index this post!
What do you all think? Is it just that Google didn't have much to do last Friday and they decided to index my post faster than normal? Maybe I chose great keywords? Or, do I have a good hunch that Google is able to tell the difference between blogs and recipes?

It has been two days and my last 2 recipes have not been indexed...must have been a fluke for the first one to be indexed less than 24 hours after publication? I don't know...Google is so hard to figure out!
I am guessing that after Google has indexed your site... is aware of its existence... the length of articles might matter less.
Certainly makes more sense to write for HUMANS than Google. So maybe this is why people say comments are so important. Because your short articles might get a lot of engagement and Google will see "hmm... seems like people like that tiny bit of content a lot!"
Definitely makes sense to keep it enjoyable so you write more often! Good luck!
Thank you! I like the comment of writing to humans instead of Google. Maybe this is what will make my site different than the other recipe sites? I don't put a lot of "extra" in my recipes. Yes, there are times I need to explain techniques, but that is different than writing an article about how my kids enjoy the recipe, etc. I think I will try this for a while and see how it goes.!
Probably the article you published was on most requested pages list.
I noticed pages do not have the same indexing speed.
It is probably futile of me to try and figure it out...but, it has given me incentive. LOL
