Take the Forrest Gump Approach

Hi Everyone!

Today would have been a great sitcom episode if I wasn't in the middle of it. My daughter wouldn't sleep last night, making it really tough to wake up at 4 am this morning. Then I had to drive everyone to their respective jobs and daycare before waiting for my own carpool in the middle of an ice storm. I get to my new job and notice I have no computer at my desk. I begin working with another young woman while IT gets my computer ready when the boss comes in and closes down the office due to the ice storm!

I laugh now but I wasn't laughing then.

So when problems arises in my life, I like to remember Forrest Gump when he runs through some...stuff. He says "S%^# happens" and keeps moving.

Why do I mention this today? I have fallen off the WA wagon...and I'm constantly trying not to beat myself up when life gets in the way. Life happens and I know I need to motivate myself to keep going and to keep moving upwards. I now know that my best writing time is either right when I wake up or right before bed and I need to stick to those times.

Please don't beat yourself up when things out of your control disrupt you schedule. Life happens. Keep going.

I can't wait to hear about everyone's success.

Samantha

Life happens... Keep going... Sometimes our plans and things are falling apart... after some time - all parts get together again.

You poor thing!

I've been applying to jobs all over the place. At my work, they are letting me do this at my desk. There are a few other of my co-workers who weren't picked up by the new firm (Clyde &Co;.) We are just waiting for Jan 19 to come around. But I've applied to at least 50 vacancies so far. When I told my supervisor that, she remarked "Really?" And I said, "What do you think I've been doing every day for the past week?" She laughed and said she continues to try to have Clyde & Co. pick us up when she proves to them that the workload is too much for just her. I wish her luck in that. I really loved working with her, and my other co-worker, too.

Hope you're successful at finding a job soon. Carol

Shit happens and we just need to sweep it aside and move on... I am glad you were able to do this.

Remember life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what"s in it till you open it. Great post thanks...

Appreciate every moment Samantha. There is usually a good reason for everything that happens. I sure do know what it is to be kept awake all night by my kids for varying reasons. Then having to go to work the same day. Not nice.

I hope you were able to get some writing done with the "down" time.

David

And be ready for anything. There are lots of varieties in a chocolate box!

Great Post Samantha!

Really inspiring. And yes, I have to tell myself that sometimes, not to beat myself up because life happens.

I am glad everyone is safe with the ice storm and all...I am sorry the day went a little rough though. I am just glad that you managed to move forward through it all.

I think something tries to stall me everyday but, I always say things happen for a reason and can only make you stronger.

Keep up the excellent work!

Thank you so much for the encouragement. I am too much of a perfectionist and I am way to hard on myself. I'm glad that I am not the only one who has to deal with this type of thinking.

You're Welcome! and no you are not the only one. I deal with it as well.
