Hello to everybody,

I seem to have missed a step somewhere while building a new website.

The comment box appear on some pages, but not all of them. It also appears on all my blogs/articles, and that's just fine.

How do I activate or deactivate the comment box on PAGES ?

Please help.

Many thanks

-Theuns

So I have had the same problem, and not being able to display comments on pages in the Omega theme - but I have found the solution:-)

Go to costumize - here there is a place where you can select "comments". You need to enable this. If not you will not be able to get comments on your page even thoug you have done the other things suggested on this page.

Hi all, I was searching for an answer for the same thing. All your answers helped to know that there is no use in trying to find it within the WP platform. So I looked into plugins-found and installed a plugin called "Comment Guestbook".
Version 0.7.1 | By Michael Burtscher
It works great added a new page called 'Guestbook", can call it Comments if you wish. people can leave comment there, but then also gives you an option to add it as widget to the sidebar or footnotes etc of your pages.Does this help?

Theuns, Sorry to tell you this. If you are using wordpress 4.3.1, comments on pages are deliberately turned off. I am using the omega theme and even though there is a theme option for comments on pages, it does not work. The wordpress guru's want comments on posts only. -Alex

Hi Alex,
You have answered my question. Thank you !!
It does work fine on all individual posts in my blog roll, so that is ok I suppose.
Many thanks for your help. Much appreciated.

Thanks you. Question answered once again quickly and a the press of a button - it makes WA the best - many thanks!

If this is of any interest to anyone I have live chat installed. This allows messages to me posted via there. Best wishes to everyone.

This was a puzzler for me at first. My theme is the one used by Kyle in the video training bestkidscameras.com (omega theme). For posts, the quick edit works. But for pages, it does not. While you are editing your site, look up at the top right hand corner and it will say screen options. Click on all pages (left side) and on the screen options (right side). The options for the screen will appear - one of which is comments. The screen options change based on what you are editing from the left menu. Hope this helps!

Thank you very much.
Followed instructions but did not work for me, as stated in my reply to TheOldSilly above.
Thank you for your effort.

That didn't work for me either, sigh ... but thanks for trying. :-)

Sorry it did not work. I have comments on all pages (not home page which is the blog roll). One last question, did you install any plugin other than the ones in the training. Sometimes there are conflicts. Also not sure if this is related, but did you install the si captcha plugin. It has some comment configuration on it.

I only installed what was recommended by Kyle.
I am not really worried that much about it though. It does work on my posts, which is the most important thing to me.
It does not really matter if people cant comment on my "normal" pages.... I try and make them as good as possible. and that be that.
Have a great weekend.

Me too. :-)

Hi, I 've visited your page and opened about 6 or 7 posts and all have comments box (am I the lucky one ;)., Also checked all menu pages and they also have comment boxes.
If you are referring to your main page it might be the case that there is a "blog roll" not a static page so there should not be a comment box below it because what post would that comment box refer to ?

The site you visited is bot the one I am talking about here.
I have not yet posted it in my profile so people can visit it. Sorry :)
Thanks for the comment.

ahh... ok ;) nvm then :)

When you open the "all pages menu" you have the options edit/Quick edit and others. Click on the Quick edit option and there you find a box allowing comments that you can tick.
You have to do this with every New page you create.

Thank you very much.

I think it has to do with the theme you are using. On my niche site, the comments function appears ONLY on the home page, for all posts. But NONE of my other pages (600+ of them) has the comments function, which totally sucks.

So, if you don't mind, I'd like to follow this comment thread and see if someone(s) has a solution/technique for making the comments function on themes that don't automatically include them on all pages?

I use the Omega theme that Kyle uses in the training.
I have followed the instructions given below by others and found the relevant box to tick (which I have done for each page and updates it) but still no joy.
I think I must simply just have comments on my individual articles in my blog roll and forget about the rest.

Yeah, sigh, that's what I have been resigning myself to also. What I do though, is, on my other pages I will provide a link to the home page if someone wants to leave a comment. It does work (for me, anyway, with my theme) because the comments show up as pertaining to the page they were on. But I don't get very many of those kinds of comments, compared to what I get on my blog page, because very few people will jump through hoops to leave a comment.

Thanks for the tip.
I will keep it in mind.
Regards
Theuns
