Will I get penalised ?

Hello to all,

Just a quick question today :

I am forced to take some time off from WA for a while due to some external factors. My concern is that when I get back, my websites will have been put on the back burner by the system, for not being active enough for some time.

Is this a real concern or not ?

Thanks in advance for your valued inputs.

-Theuns.

Hello Stefan,
Hope to see you back soon.
Good luck to you.

Theuns: It all depends on how hard you have had to fight for quality keywords. If your niche is where everyone in their dog is gunning for you, your inactivity (besides losing readers of any of your Blog Posts) you will lose ground, especially in Google. If you have less competition, you should be alright. Please come back soon. WA needs you. DAN

Hi Dan,
Thank you for your valued inputs, as well as your kind words.
It is much appreciated.

I hope all goes well for you, Theuns! We'll all be waiting for your return.

Hope everything you have to take care of works out ok. Best wishes!

Thank you Ron.
Good of you to drop in.

Hi Theuns, will your WA membership lapse while you're away? Once your membership expires you have 30 days to move your site(s) to another host or just back them up on your computer.

Hi Marion,
No, my membership will stay up to date during that time.

Nice to hear Theuns!

Theuns: When in doubt ALWAYS listen to what Marion has to say. She took your post a little differently than I did. I didn't understand that you might be considering dropping your Premium Membership during your absence. DAN

2

Are you Theuns? Dropping your premium? When you do that, you have to move your websites like Marion says!

2

Theuns, you are not dropping yr premium like what Loes mentioned? Are you? We will definitely miss you. :))

3

No, I'm not dropping my premium.
I will just be a bit in-active for a while.

2

No Loes. Not dropping my premium. :)

2

Oke, great, then your website will be waiting on your return:)

Your website business is separate from your WA ranking. When you return you can work on building your WA rank. Your websites is another matter. Your websites' rank may change due to other websites ranking higher. You will lose your reader base if you are gone long enough--so you'll have to recapture that by buildin fresh content. That will take time. That is probably the worst part of taking a Sabatical. But, hey, you gotta do what you gotta do! Good luck to you...

Depending on how long you are inactive, you will lose "Publishing Frequency" percentage points in your WA ranking. Your posts and pages contents, if they are now ranking on Google, should not lose their positions, unless other sites gain on you during your hiatus.

Hi Marvin,
Thanks for your input. Much appreciated.

My 2 cents. If possible I would still post a couple of times a week to keep the site running. If you are too busy to write consider hiring someone else to do that, say iWriter which only cost $3-6 per 500 words depending on the skill level of the writer. Your thoughts, cheers!

Hello Gerald,
Thanks for stopping by.
Yes, I will try to post a few articles during this time as you suggested.
-Theuns

2

How long will you be away? Probably just going to have to revamp site when you get back?

3

I will be inactive for about 2 months - Until end Feb 2016.
Is revamping a big deal ?
Thanks for your interest.
-Theuns

1

Could just schedule post for 2 months. However, you wont be able to reply to any blog comments. Could hire a VA to take care of it while your gone :)

3

Yeah, I will make a point of it to pop in every now and then, so I will not be gone completely.... Just a lot more inactive that I used to e.
