Do You Read From Computer Screen or Print Out Lessons

This is more of a question than a post; I am interested in other people’s opinion on this subject. When you are working through online lessons do you read from your computer screen or do you print them out and read them.

I personally find I prefer to print and read lessons or information I am trying to learn or research for two reasons,

1) I find I can read easier from a paper version than direct off a computer screen it seems to be easier on my eyes than a bright screen, also it gives me the ability to sit somewhere comfortable and quiet if I am researching a new subject and trying to digest the information.

2) If I am researching, or in the case of in the WA site following lessons and doing as I read, I find it a lot easier than jumping between pages on the screen.

In general it is just a habit and the way I learn the easiest and having a hard copy on hand is quite useful to refer back to in the future if I get stuck and need to revise something. The problem I have found with this system is obviously the great waste of paper, even though you can keep the lessons for future reference, some of the information will become out of date quickly and need updating.

So how can you have the best of both worlds, read and learn the way you are used too, and consider the environment at the same time. The way I have overcome this is I copy and paste the lessons turn them into Pdf files and download them to my Kindle this way it’s like reading from paper, still being able to not flick between pages and best of all I can take them with me to read anywhere.

I know some people out there may consider this a rather long way of going about reading and doing the online lessons, keep in mind you may need reading glasses one day too, however it works well for me (and no this isn’t an advert for amazon).

Really interested on your comments and to see how other people inside WA read the information and lessons and what ideas you may have on this subject.

I am trying to get set up with two monitors so i can put a tab on each monitor and not have to jump back and forth between tabs.

What's this paper stuff. Printer ink is too expensive. But, if it works for you then go for it. I find that there is usually a link or two to click in the tutorials. When you print them they are easy to miss.

I read online though. Never even considered getting hard copy.

You remember paper once a long time ago they even used it to send out bills... lol

I say: do whatever works best for you. I myself don't print anything unless I really have to for several reasons: 1. it's cheaper 2. cleaner (no waste of paper etc. yes I'm pretty green), 3. I'm used to reading stuff on screen, haven't seen anyone programming 1000s lines of code on paper ;-)

However it's easier to make notes on paper, but you can also make notes in electronic form.
