MIA, I Have Been

So this pandemic has turned the world upside down for all of us. I know I have been MIA since the spring.

My husband and I have basically been working from home since March except for a couple of weeks in May. We have been as busy as ever though.

We had a very busy spring and summer. We had a leak in one of downstairs showers that caused the laborers to have to tear out part of a bedroom wall and repair it and we had to have the whole shower replaced. There was damage to the shower from the earthquake we had back in November 2018.

We also had major yard work done and that took weeks. It turned out beautifully but It was just a very, very long process. By the time the rock landscapers were through we were ready for them to be done.

We finally got a fence put back up last week after waiting for two months as the fence company worked down it's list but unfortunately it was too late for nine of our chickens.

In the five years we have lived in this house we've never had any problems with bears coming into our yard. It was a combination of the fence in the front of our house being removed in mid-June and then we lost our seven year old yellow lab to tumors in his lungs. It was rough.

Our dogs could no longer get out and roam our large yard. Well, then we started having visitors. We were able to chase the bears away a couple of times but the third time they came was in the middle of the night and we didn't hear them. They tore a huge hole in our pen and tore pieces off the coop. We lost our rooster and eight hens. It was a sad day.

In July we welcomed a new member to the family. His name is "Buddy." He was 10 weeks old when we got him. He filled the hole in our hearts from loosing our seven year old. Needless to say when you introduce a puppy in to your life things are not the same. My life has revolved around him and I have not been able to get anything done. But he is worth it. He brings a smile to our face each day. (See photo above).

The summer was very slow for me as far as my websites are concerned. Because I have been working at home and I've had back problems. By the time I get through with work each day I cannot possibly sit here at my desk any longer. So my sites have suffered. I'm trying to get back on track but it is hard.

I've been reading a lot of member's postings and that has kept me going. It is nice to hear that everyone is doing well for the most part.

I hope we can all get through the next couple of weeks, survive the election and get through this pandemic safely.

For all of you, I wish you safety and health.

Pamela

Hi Pamela you've had so much to contend with this year, I really hope the next few months do bring you hope. Glad you hung in there and drew comfort from the community here at WA. Blessings to you.

Only in Alaska do we have bears disrupting our work week.

Wow, it's been a rough year for everyone but you REALLY had a rough time!!! It will be interesting to see how the remainder of the year pans out.

Wow, Pamela, sorry for everything you had to endure, especially the loss of your dog! I had a year like that once too. Take care and keep doing what you need to do! God Bless you and you r family!
