He guys, so in a post i am currently writing i have used data from U.S energy information administration to talk about electricity costs in 2016. do i need to link to their sit

Yes, always a good idea and one of Jay's recommendations for a winning website page or post.

Hey Jarrin,
Will help add authority to your site if you link the information back to their site.

Tried and True

Elaine

I link and “ sources. For me it’s just easier and it gives the reader quicker access to the info if they want it.
Sydney

I want them thinking with an attribution statement, Not off in the hinterlands away linking!

Just link to the authority site.

Having outgoing links to credible authority websites can boost your SEO. Jay teaches this in his SEO webinars.

You can make the link open in a new window so the visitor does not actually leave your site.

Anyone who visits that external link is clearly interested in US energy data. You're purpose is to help readers get the right information. If it were me, I would link it. ~Jude

I normally acknowledge that my information or facts came from an authority site

In the newspaper world, when we use facts or data, we state something like this, “According to the blah blah blah report from the 2016 U.S. Department of Energy, fact fact fact.”
At the end you can use something like footnotes to document your sources. Just another idea.

Karin

awesome thanks

Just a quick opinion -- yes, always give credit where credit is due... in this case, depending upon your blog -- is it a review or is it simply additional information for the reader? ... and is it necessary or desirable for them to leave your post to go elsewhere i.e. link... and perhaps not return to your post... so best to perhaps then state the information source.... ? ... always options to consider... hope this helps you a wee bit... cheerio.. :)

on the same page with a lot of what your saying, give credit yes but do i want the viewer to navigate away no.

Hi Jarrin,

If you have a clear statement about the original source, you don't need to link them

Regards,
Zed

That is kind of what i was thinking.
so in the paragraph that i used the data i have written "o work this out i used data from U.S energy information administration website"
do you think that will suffice?

Yep

Awesome thanks mate

You're welcome!

Whilst my WA rank has been steadily increasing i have noticed that my creator rank has reamained at 107000 and not budged... I consistently help others, i have written a few bl

Though you would have to create trainings and blogs to get your creator rank to move, it has nothing to do with how many you have.

I have a creator rank of 6 yet I have much less blogs and trainings than others with ranks of 7, 8 9, 10 and more. Though creating a lot of blogs and trainings is required it is about quality and not quantity.

Ok thanks mate, ill keep at it

Create training and blog on WA. That will help.

HI Snow
You have been given the answer
David

Training. Something I should do more of!

You're Creation rank increases with everything you create here, you have created 4 blogs now, and no training, when you start blogging regularly at WA it will go up, I have rank 10 and produced 745 blogs and 100+ training here. The Creation rank has nothing to do with giving comments

Thankyou, thats what i was after

Just a thought consider adding more badges on your training level, I can see you are still on with level 1 badge.

It does over time for sure, for guidance on how to improve this, check the rank adviser under your photo, its explains how to get higher up. It also depends on who is active in and around you as well.

It will soon change.

Hi Just an advice and what certification level 2 said help! In that way you get rank.
