The Answer To How Do I Choose a Niche?

This is a question that comes up whenever anyone first starts on their affiliate adventure. It cropped up for me and it still crops up for me when I'm trying to think of new niches.

There's a million and one answers to this question - and the training here at WA addresses this quite nicely. But even after completing the training ( TL;DR - choose something you're passionate about ) here I was left with the thought of;

"Well that's all well and good, but what exactly am I passionate about?"

And then, following on from that;

"Well, I'm passionate about XYZ, but can I monetize it?"

The second point is the one to address first, because the answer is yes. Kyle talks about this in great depth in the WA training and I won't go over that again. If you're just starting out here, do go through the training because it's invaluable. I've been affiliate marketing for years ( with some success, but not as much as I would have liked! ) and I got so much out of the training that I can't recommend it enough. Don't skip steps - do it all.

Anyway, with that small rant over - how do you choose something you're passionate about?

It's taken me 10 years to realise this.... I am a bit slow aren't I?

Don't spend time wracking your brains trying to think about what you're passionate about. Don't overcomplicate it - the answer is easy....

What do you find yourself ranting to your friends about? When you're talking to your partner, closest friend or work colleagues, what is it that you get all excited to tell them?

There's your niche!

If you're sitting in the pub with your mates and you keep talking about a particular subject with enthusiasm - there's your niche.

If you phone your significant other because you can't wait to tell them something you've just done with your life - there's your niche.

It'll be something simple, say, a gadget you use every day that you couldn't live without. A hobby you just love to tell everyone about who'll listen - there's your niche.

If you can't stop talking about it to anyone who'll listen, you already have enough expertise to create a niche site about it. And, if you can't stop talking about it to whomever will listen then you have the necessary passion to make it work too. It's a win-win.

So there you go. Stop talking to anyone who'll listen and instead write about it on your niche website!

I thought I'd better update the title since the comments seem to imply that I was asking a question :-)

A niche can be anything- literally anything! you can be as vague as sports or as specific as australian rules football. You can talk about protein supplements or narrow it down to specific type. The list is endless

What do you like?
What is your passion?
Your esperience?
Your expertise?
