Day 2 of 30: Progress Made and Expenses So Far
Site #1 is Up but Not "Live"
The first site is now up, but not live.
There are a few reasons for this, but mainly because the domain name I purchased has yet to map to the hosting. This doesn't take too long though.
Also, there isn't enough content yet on the site for Google to really pick up anything. That will change once I get a little over 1500 words on the site.
At that point, I can do an initial "indexing push" to get the site displaying on Google and what not.
"It Takes Money to Make Money"
RUNNING EXPENSES
- Hosting: $0 (using an old pre-paid yearly plan)
- Theme: $0 (using theme I already own)
- Domain Name: $10.87
- 3x500 word articles: $22.50
- TOTAL: $33.37
Some believe that saying, others don't. I happen to be one that does.
Certain expenses cannot be avoided and are (in fact) necessary.
Also known as "investments".
I'll track my expenses along the way. Also, I'm well aware that not everyone will have similar expenses.
It's a 30 day challenge, but I'm not trying to do this the "cheapest way possible". Speed costs money.
For example, I find my time better spent on other tasks so I'm outsourcing initial content in order to give a little "weight" to the site... which helps with indexing of course (the most important goal at the moment).
What's Next?
I'm struggling to determine what to do next. I could start niche research again for site #2... but I may consider taking site #1 through the entire configuration process first.
We'll see, and I'll let you know!

I think you should focus on your first site for now until you finished the course. Then you'll have the knowledge to build out a site properly. Otherwise you'll end up making a bunch of sites only having to fix them later as you find out what the proper way to do things is.
