Over Age and Unemployed

With the way things are these days, if someone is unemployed, I understand looking for a job and taking one as one comes available. What I do not understand is settling into that job as if it were the final stop; as if there were no other options.

The following video shoes a current trend within the world of employment with regards to aging employees.

I remember reading an article in a magazine a few years ago entitled 'Finished At 40'. The article was about how many employees were finding it difficult to maintain their status with a company once they reached a certain age group. What is so troubling about this trend is that it shows just how coldblooded the world of employment can be. Decisions are being made in corporate offices today without regards for a the loyalty of long-term employees. The loyalty of an employee is not a factor when it comes to decisions of who stays and who goes. It is no longer a meritocracy as it once was in times past.

What is, to me, equally disturbing is how this society is by and large so committed to this coldblooded system. In other words, most people view employment as the end-all, cure-all for meeting their financial needs.

Here is the deal, here is why owning an online business makes so much more sense than settling for a job as a final stop.

There are many reasons, but I give this one big reason.

There is a very good likelihood that we all have residual bills (bills that keep occurring - month after month after month, and so on).

Employment income (a paycheck) is not residual income.

If you stop working, the paychecks stop coming in, but the bills are still residual. And this is what each and everyone of these participants in the above video are facing. They are currently unemployed, and finding it difficult to find a job because of their advancing age. And they all have residual bills; bills that will not stop coming.

It only makes sense that if you have residual bills, you should have residual income.

An online business, when done the right way, can produce residual income that can cover residual bills and even outpace inflation. I do not know of any job that creates residual income that outpaces inflation.

Now the participants within this video may search for and obtain employment somewhere. But because of where they are in life, chances are they will never be able to retire. Because if they are not ready to retire now, they are unlikely to find an employment that will pay them enough to retire latter. And so they will continue to rely on temporary income (which is what earned income is) to cover their residual (reoccurring) bills regardless to chronic health issues, or any other issues that may accompany their advancing age.

I am not here and now judging or being condescending of anyone in this video. My heart does indeed break for these people. And I shudder to consider the large numbers of individuals who are headed in the same direction.

It's just that I know that what they want is on the other side of their reluctance to look at and evaluate how powerfully an online business can impact their current financial status.

These individuals are entrapped (by way of programming) within a 'system' that has such a powerful 'pull' that they cannot see anything else.

And this is in-spite of the fact that this same 'system' they are trying to turn back to has already failed them.

So what is the solution? The solution is found in an education that programs you for a level of success that allows you to experience time and financial freedom.

A level of success that allows you to own your own life as opposed to expensing out your life to create and sustain wealth for someone else.

A level of success that allows to generate cash-flow from other parts of the country and around the world (even while you are asleep - this is the internet)

This is what Wealthy Affiliate is all about.

Within the Wealthy Affiliate opportunity is a systematic step by step training that can take someone who may be a novice and guide them to a level of success that they may have never knew was possible.

And this can be worked on whether you are currently employed, or currently seeking employment.

Take a look and decide if this makes sense to you.

Very powerful post :) I am not able to work outside or even drive a vehicle because of health issues at the moment, so I am hoping and praying that I can, and will succeed with WA! I LOVE this program and many of the members already! :) Like our own little support group..lol

Hi Terry,
Pour your heart into your website, and you can't miss.

I've just been made redundant at the age of 50 and it is exactly the way this blog post describes. That is how I came across WA last weekend. I'm going through the training and I'm working on my first website now and hope to have it up and running by the 1st of July, when I'm officially unemployed.

Aaricia, stay positive, stick with this training here at WA, set up your web site, pour your heart into it and I think you will have the success that you are looking for.

Thanks for the advice and your kind words. I still have to learn a lot but I'm very determined to make work.

This resonates with me.

I lost my job a few months ago, and have been looking for employment ever since, though without success. I agree totally with your comments about retirement; I will absolutely not be able to retire. Ever. I have been working since I was 19 and have nothing to show for it in terms of savings.

I am incredibly grateful that I found Wealthy Affiliate. Like many other members, I went through a couple of scams first before arriving here.

I am still seeking a job, as I need cash in the short term, but my long-term goals and hopes are all tied in to Wealthy Affiliate. I know I have no real future if I continue with the jobs that I have had all my life.

Craig, I'm sorry to hear of your situation. I so wish you much success here at WA. I've come to realize that this issue is something that so many are faced with as they advance in there careers. I know that at age 56, I had to focus on a profession outside of employment.
