Simple Affiliate Links vs. Layered Links

So I recently learned about layering links into my pages. I am really excited about this idea, but I wish it had been earlier in the training, because I have a lot of links to fix. A simple link is when you write an article, highlight a keyword, and link it to Amazon(or which ever affiliate promotion). It's pretty straight forward. But to search engines, it looks suspect when all your links go out to other sites.

Now Google loves internal links, links that go between your articles. You are better to create a 'reviews' page, write a paragraph about why you like a product, with your affiliate link in it, and a picture. Then in your posts, when you mention a product, link it to the review, which is linked to Amazon. It's an extra step, but if you look at the site through Googles eyes, most of what you write is pure content, and one page is pure sales. The other way every page is sales, and you get dinged for that.

I hope you guys understand what I'm saying. It makes a big differance in the feel of your site. Much more education, less sales pitch-y. Let me know how it works for you!

Yes it is:)

Thanks, good advice. Shirley

I am glad I found this blog! I have been toying with that for the past while since I have some links in my articles. I actually put it on my to do list to write a review for every link.

excellent! great minds think on the same track! I try to write a new article then revamp an old one. that way I don't get bogged down.

Good point about Google's perspective, and I know what you mean about knowing that sooner. Maybe it's just as well to take a moving forward approach.

yeah, I am going forward and fixing the old ones as time allows.

I've started to switch my site over too, slowly. I'll write a review on a product and then modify my original page that had the info on it, give just a brief description, and then link to my other page.

thats what im doing , one at a time

http://beginpreppingnow.com/how-to-start-prepping this post is an example of simple links. http://beginpreppingnow.com/what-you-need has a bunch of the layered links. just click on three links on each page. You can get the 'feel' of the difference.

This approach is really clever and stops your site looking spammy

thanks ,I think it looks much cleaner.
