Social Media Marketing isn't just content anymore, it's literally energy

Not gonna lie, I'm lowkey tired of seeing the same recycled Gen Z content everywhere.

  • Perfect Canva posts.
  • Generic hook.
  • 5 tips to do XYZ with zero soul.

As a Gen Z who actually lives online, my take is simple: If your content doesn't feel like a real human made it while overthinking life at 2 am, I'm scrolling.

How I see social media marketing

For me, social media marketing isn't about posting daily just to stay consistent.

  • Copy-paste carousels that sound like AI had a corporate job.
  • Acting like a guru when we are all still figuring it out.

I see social media marketing as something that is all about:

  • Saying what you actually think, not what sounds brand safe.
  • Some days are wins, some are fails.
  • I don't want followers. I want people who feel like that they can relate to the content I put out, not just for clout.

If I see someone post captions on their social media posts, I would overthink it (because apparently my horoscope says that one of the personalities I have is overthinking and I am a master of it). Would I say what the caption says to a friend in a voice note? If I did, then I would cringe HARD. Yeah nah , it's not going up at all.

Gen Z doesn't want just value, we want vibes.

You can educate me, cool.

But the real question is... Do I feel seen and understood? Do I feel as if you are talking with me, not at me?

Based on my own posts that I post on my social media platforms and yes, my overthinking skills.

My polished posts that are raw and honest perform well.

But the ones where I am honest about:

  • Losing someone I love.
  • Questioning who actually has a place in my life.
  • Feeling disconnected from people who preach more than they practice.

Those are the posts people respond to like. Comments that I receive under my socials include "this really hit home" or "I really needed this".

That is what social media is to me: Not a stage, a conversation.

Where does AI fit into all this?

Do I use tools? Of course I do.

Do I let them speak for me? No

I get it . People who see that your content is well written or you have some sort of knowledge in a field think oh AI this AI that. That is because they sit behind a screen and assume it's AI. They don't see what you use AI for and how you use it. I don't let it speak for me, it helps me structure the content I want, I do the talking, sometimes my partner does the talking. But do you think I let AI speak for me? Do you really think that I copy and paste a whole chunk of text and say done? No because nobody sees how I layer my posts. This is going to hit some people but don't immediately think "Oh wow he is so well written must be AI" or "so AI coded". Are you for real? Yes I use AI to back points. But in terms of speaking for myself? No.

AI can suggest content structure, help me brainstorm or polish my content. But AI can NEVER and i repeat NEVER replace: The way I love my cat. Understand how grief shaped the way I see time and people. Feeling that deep annoyance when people act superior over a deen (faith) they barely respect.

That is the only part I bring into my content. That is the only part I can bring into my content. That is the only part that you can bring into yours.

My personal rule for content now:

Before I post, I ask myself:

  • Do I sound like this around friends and family?
  • Will someone read this and feel less alone?
  • Am I being honest or am I perfoming?

If the answer is: It feels like a real human having a real moment, then it is a yes.

Because at the end of the day, people don't want high value content, optimized strategy and clean aesthetics.

They want warmth, realness, a little chaos and a reminder that they are not the only ones trying to figure life out,

And that for me, is what social media marketing actually is: Real heart, smart strategy and human first. Always
