Consumerism

Are you on those persons that buy things just because you want it?

Our society is being considered the most consumerism of all times! We buy things with no necessity at all, we buy stuff in multiple colors, and different shapes just because its not the same.

One of the young adults' problem is that they can't resist buying things, it's like they need it or their life will be ruined and therefore their social status.

By 25 years old most young adults' already have 2 or 3 credit cards and debts that they can't pay.

Does Consumerism Help Online Marketing?

Yes definitely!

Every year are more affiliate marketers trying to take a part on this broken society. People like to buy things its true! We are like little birds and shiny things isn't it true?

Our job is getting easier every time.

We all know how to make someone buy something. Show something they need or tell them why you will need that product and will buy it because again we can't resist to the temptation.

Since social media appeared like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram ads are something essential in our strategies to increase sells.

Studies say that 81% of people admitted that posts and recommendations by family and friends will lead them to buy certain product.

And 78% said that online influencers and companies posts on social media will lead them to the purchase.

Consumerism is probably one the most important things in our business if we didn't have consumerism probably we couldn't sell so well and make a nice income every day.

We are always trying to get some products on demand but demand means an increase of goods and product materials. And as the demand goes up the production goes up as well and we end up having an environment problem.

All the pollution is destroying the planet as well as the resource depletion. We use so much plastic and paper that every year we end up with tons of rubbish going into the ocean's and tips.

The consumerism is killing the economy, our pockets and our world.

Thanks for sharing.

Madonna is not the only material girl in the world. Everyone wants to, as an old expression says, "keep up with the Joneses". Very few people are content with what they have. They want the newest, latest, new and improved products. There is really no difference from the products other than marketing. Is there really any difference in the iphone 3 and iphone 9(or whatever number they are up to)?
Thanks for sharing LIly. You are very insightful for your age.

Keep up the good work and much more success to you in 2019!

Well, there are some changes but most of the technology is like a reworded poem I think Mark, but until we can figure out how to make the world go round without money, I'm not going to criticize them because they at least put food on the the table and roofs over kids heads.

I totally agree.
It's better to look what we have and to be content
with it. For the affiliation we should perhaps look
more precisely the needs of the people, but fortunately
the affiliation sometimes offers something other than
consumption. For example, WA propose the affiliation
to change the life others by sellling subscriptions.

Thanks for your very interesting post!

Liked your post. You made some interesting points. I doubt if consumerism will ever vanish. It is capitalism at its most profitable. Good, products and or services are what people want and is driven by most of societies thirst of materialism-wanting to have and acquire in ever increasing amounts. And in my case, I just gotta have it. If I may add my opinion, I believe consumerism promotes greed. In a Depche Mode song, the message "Everything Counts In Large Amounts" sums consumerism up for me. I would hope that with our consumerism, that there continues to be in place, consumer protection laws to protect agains unscrupulous hawks that will say and sell anything for their profit. Protections that should keep pace with our buying appetite must include: safety standards of goods, truthful packaging, and truthful advertisements. And a few more could be in placed as technology drives a lot of consumerism. Thanks again for your post.

My experience with Americans is that we live at our means whether high or low. We're all just two paychecks away from homelessness. You have heard of comfort food, but what about comfort shopping? If we lived at half our means and invested the rest we could really have something, but I'm no one to talk. I spent every penny I made one year at the casinos. lol and I knew better. I'll start saving next month, I would tell myself...then I got sick and now I'm trying to survive on $900 a month. Wake up young people
before it's too late.

So glad to make the acquaintance of someone so enlightened yet so young. You give me great hope Lily, because the future is yours and your generation not mine. What we can do as a tribe here at Wealthy Affiliate is just try to sell the highest quality from vendors who are as aware of this issue and are as conscientious as you. But let me tell you Lily, right now there are scientist working on resolving this issue. A man in Japan, I believe it was, invented a machine that turns garbage into fuel. In Canada scientists are working on a machine that captures the carbon emissions that linger in the air, others are working on technology to
clean the trash up that we dump in the oceans and all these things create income as well and they just may be penny stocks, which are affordable. It has been said that the love of money is the root of all evil, but I say the love of money is the root of good and evil. It just depends on what you do with it. One thing we could do is put a little banner on our websites saying don't forget to recycle or be mindful; we share this planet with other species (?)
When we invest all this money we are going to make let's not, worry about the profit as much as the impact whatever the company is doing is having on the earth and those who inhabit it.
I better stop now or I will end up writing a whole blog instead of just a comment, but kudos to you kiddo. I think our world is going to be in better hands with these younger generations than it has ever been before, especially if we get some of these old dogs out of office. There should be a cap on the age of politicians not a minimum age. Let the old guys be consultants if they just have to play.

Thank you so much for those nice words. I heard about that man in Japan and in the other day I saw a campaign that H&M is doing where you give them clothes that you don't use anymore and they use those clothes to make new ones.

Thank you so much,

Awesome! From the heart dear.

Lily, how are you going to affiliate market this concept? Nothing wrong with an anti-consumerism niche, presuming you want to make money :)

No not at all. Just saying that we affiliate marketers are just gaining from this society but the world are suffering from it and some people as well. Just random thoughts coming to my head.

True. There’s no stopping it in sight. Cheers AJ

It is true, thank you for sharing.
