Be very careful of Social Media. Know your followers !
This is a word of caution for most social media sites, such as instagram, facebook or where a chat function is possible.
Please just stick to focusing on your work and not to be carried away, a small glance is okay but to be swayed away is danger lurking.
The scams are endless especially so are the requests for donations to charities, buying itunes gift cards, asking or writing to the UN for so and so's leave so they can come home to be with extended family. If its tugging at your heart, you know they have power over you.
Stop and think about why these things were not accessible to them already and why is it a certain issue now that you are in their lives?
This is a big question as it was not you who asked them to be in that predicament or situation, it autonomy to decide one's life, career or choices. Suddenly their world spins around you and their problems become yours? I mean suddenly within a few days that soon.
Never surrender your details play into time and fade out or ghost them. If it persists block them and never be romantically involved even if it seems so credible, even if they send you videos of them playing instruments and singing for you.
The details will more than often link back to online hackers and pirates, off late is a scam from Nigeria. Sorry to thhe genuine ones here, but there are some bad apples and its coicidentally from that locale.
Its been a tumultous time ever since i was asked to write to the UN to request a supposed top rank doctor, out of respect so that he could be with his son and family. Apparently he was a really debonair one alright ! lol bias probably on my part .
Would I oblige if I weren't attracted? No, I am so protective of myself no one can fool me through and through i can see them for their intentions.
They capitalise on that, they know what makes women weak in the knees and steal profiles and assume it was the tables turned on the real owners of those profiles.
Tactics to employ to sweep those spammers like bed bugs:
1. Question the urgency, the request and nature.
2. If they persist, or give you time and then come back again in the conversation, which often starts sweetly and casually . The spammer will revisit the topic and that is a guarantee.
Avoid or ghost on them back again, as it drives them desperate and may even subside if you ignore it. It doesnt hurt to question their intentions, qualifications.
Thats all the 2cents I wanted to offer here as ive been lately experienced myself so to speak and want to atleast shed light on something quite vicious its actually a cyber threat on its own.
Delay, ghost do what you need to block never talk or buy into time and ghost.
Im so glad to be back to this safe zone at WA its like coming to safer shores!

Excellent measures taken Gaurav also a note of caution, to anyone considering trading in bitcoin: legit platforms and apps and check the wallet address. Thats ok to try but legitimacy is crucial as in websites with secure SSL and badges.
Yet that can be sketchy because the price is hit bottom, but agents have to be scrupulously researched.
Great post and great advice. I really appreciate that you wrote such a blog because we all need to be aware of spammers that are online and elsewhere.
I understand what you are talking about. Because it almost happen to me but I was saved but then I got caught with this online scam that I didn't know was a scam. It was a lesson well learned.

Thankyou for taking the time to read my article it was purely motivated by fear . I then think I ought to include this in my boot camp article/SWAG though I ve tapered off due to inactivity on that front . I believe it so .
This makes for a first hand experience at the cyber security threat prevalent where and how we lest expect it .
Submitting to stupidity I did almost and when I rang police they said as long as money didn’t exchange hands we are safe.
If it had then not only do we lose money it’s a chargeable offense of felony/abetting fraud. Thankfully we are smart at WA.
I think you should because it is something that needs to be addressed. Too many people are being scammed and they don't even know it.
You have brought a bright light on the subject and we as a community should be aware of this that way we can try to make others aware of this problem as well.

Thankyou Mary I thought this would be beneficial as it’s first hand personal experience. I wish all to be enlightened on this and prevent it in its tracks , by recognizing what constitutes the broad term, that is ‘scamming’.
You are so very welcome and I think it has because you are making people aware of scamming and that is half the battle.

Today I received a new intimidation signaling that these shady characters can switch and create numerous profiles and still access us. Instagram needs better policies regarding blocking accounts entirely.
Ofcourse they dont want to lose face and popularity amongst users, as its parent company Facebook is declining somewhat in popularity owing to the Cambridge personal security issue.
Its left to manual blocking and certain law enforced measures if the need arises.
Well im not worried if so as I say to spammers and frauds: Knock yourselves out and enjoy as long as I have the option to block I will use it!!
Another method to check is by hangouts if ever so agree to disagree.
Options such as saving and turning on history and requesting secretly the location, checking the settings such as details with the settings button can reveal it all. copy that and keep it if exorted for money and deeds.
I didn't know that but I am like you if I can block you I am going to do it. I don't like spammers at all. I made a mistake and I learn from it. I am very careful about what I write because of it.
But dealing with this mini-stroke and the symptoms from that I am having a little bit of a hard time but I am making it.
I have to be more careful more then ever now then I have ever been.
These spammers think they have us over the barrel with all this new technology but I have news for them we got them because we have block button to push.

Absolutely it is a one stop solution for sanctity in all respects;) the only inexpensive option , considering the physical manifestations of anxiety/stress are costs themselves.
I was scared like trembling scared I couldn't sleep, think or eat or stay in present moment. I got calls endlessly off the hook and then called San Francisco Police department to lodge a Complaint. They said whatever I did was sufficiently good and that nothing is to become of it.
Money extortion, specifically to pay so and so to an account and swift code which is ridiculous and looks un real.
I was lucky to not reveal anything, Identity theft occurs by being so damn honest. I wasn't I was vague and used false everything whilst requesting that letter.
Suddenly their job was at threat and then started the change in tone. though the blackmailer said I know everything about me and that I would lose my son.
That's when I took it to heart, otherwise I thought to myself go knock yourself out and have a blast mentally.
I truly had a bad time with threats that I had to report to FTC, Federal Trade Commission website online report submission and considered FBI online complaint. However, with spammers its so legit that its concealed, especially since they use TOR. I should know better my ex husband did such things himself.
Still I was swayed foolishly in the end I decided enough is enough blackmail I will definitely do something about it and also block.
Never agree to go to a private chat ever, if so stick to the dm system on Instagram or facebook do not make ourselves amenable to an impulsive sway.
Thankfully nothing untoward and its back again to good life as I know it. As we know it correction : ) WA is a safe place lets stick to our common grouds as authors respectively.
