OMG

I took a leap of faith and I have just successfully set up my first automated email campaign. It was a true 'baptism of fire'

A job well done, but I felt like I was never going to get there, despite following the training on WA for the basics, which was very comprehensive and you should definitely follow it. But, I didn't want to use a paid autoresponder in the first instance, because they can be very expensive, especially when you are first trying to grow your list.

I did sign up for the Free trial for Get Response, but I decided at this point in time not to continue with the full membership.

I opted instead to use MailChimp - Free for your first 2,000 subscribers, Great For the Beginner, only permitted 1 list though, but good for dipping your toe into your automated email journey.

It features all the necessary tools you need to set up a very professional looking campaign - if you want to see what I created, you can take a look Here.

If you do want to take advantage of MailChimp's Free plan, follow the video training found on their website, do not follow the instructions found in even the latest YouTube videos, because they will only confuse you and are either teaching you about functionality of the upgraded paid membership plans or are not all teaching you how to use the updated dashboard.

Although, this YouTube video is good in parts, it was done before MailChimp changed access to automated emails. Please watch it until the end, because it is definitely worth the effort.

But, you know what nothing will hold you back. This next YouTube video teaches you step by step how to set up your automated emails, although, when the presenter mentions select email, you don't, you select automated email from list on left.

Success - you will go to the ball!!

I have had an account with MailChimp for some years now, but I didn't really use it. But, now I have got to grips with it, it does offer some great features which will start you off on the right Free path to setting up your automated email series and your first simple marketing funnel.
