How to stop all the post on my home page, every post since I started.

Hi, when you first open up my website you see a massive scrolling of all my post since I started the site. Is there anyway to stop that now so people use my menu and I just have a post on there giving everyone an idea of what my site is all about. Thank you Shaun.

My "recent posts" are on the sidebar widget, which can be removed in the Appearance section of my website dashboard under the widget category.

Hi, Shaun. If you want to turn your homepage into a static page (stable, frozen, still, always the same), you can go into your back office and click on Appearance>Customize>Homepage Settings>Static.Let me know if that helps.

Thank you Daverh, Is that what you are supposed to do once you have a lot of posts up on your site. It's been about 4 months now since I started my website and I don't see this on other people websites. I will give it a go. Thanks again.

Hey, Shaun.

A static home page features fixed content, while a blog roll displays regularly updated posts.

A static home page is great for presenting key information and a clear call to action, such as on an e-commerce site, an NPO site, or an event where you want to point out specific information to a reader.

A blog roll is ideal for engaging visitors with new content. I use one so that every time someone comes to my site, they will find fresh information.

Ultimately, the choice is yours. I hope that helps.

Wow Thanks Daverh, that is food for thought. I see what you mean seeing knew posts. I just have some people saying to me, wow you have a lot of post at the moment and I have been scrolling down to see them.. Yet why don't they just use my menu and check out the area that benefits them. Maybe I'm worrying about the minority rather then just letting it go. My website is in the health and wellness category and of course I want to sell affiliate products. I'm just trying to work out how to do it and to make sure I'm not making life hard for myself by maybe doing the wrong thing. Thanks again Daverh, enjoy your weekend.

You bet, Shaun. As time goes on, you might decide to change your homepage setup. The good news is that it is pushbutton easy and if you don't like it, or it hurts your readership, you can change back in an instant. You have a great weekend, too.
