I'm doing some keyword research on the WA keyword tool and getting some discrepancy with the results when compared to google.

For example, WA keyword tool says the follo

Just in case anyone finds this thread looking for an answer, this video offers a great explanation! -

Hey Sharon!

When you do any keyword research the numbers are not exact. When you look at SERP results (what shows up on the search engine results page) you will get related and exact match sites.

When you do keyword research you're looking for exact match sites.

That is why there is such a huge gap in numbers. If you are looking for a more specialized tool you can try Jaaxy.

Here's the link to my review of it if you are interested in learning more :) http://bit.ly/jaaxyre

Hope this helps :)

Thanks Marlinda :)

But I was searching using quotation marks so doesn't that mean I was searching exact match rather than related sites?

Yes but if you noticed some of the articles are not exact matches. That is means the search engine is still pulling related articles because its more concerned about getting your answer than finding the exact match for your keywords.

For example, the first result has 'addressing selection criteria' but not 'how to'.

Google is continuously evolving to find search answers. I didn't find this trick particularly useful either because of the changes google has been making.

If you use Jaaxy, you will be able to find keywords a lot more efficiently and it tells you how easy or not it is to rank for the keyword.

Here's my review on it if you're interested :)

And I've also done a write up and video on how I do my keyword research :)

Hi Marlinda,

The very first result does have "how to address selection criteria" on the page so Google did pull up the exact match result as it was supposed to. I've attached a screenshot.

I already have a Jaaxy account and it brings up the same results as the WA keyword tool so the discrepancy remains the same...

All I'm trying to do is point out that there may be an accuracy issue with the keyword tool and perhaps support should look into it? I'm not sure how to bring this to their attention though?

S

When I did it my results were different. That is the other thing. The results aren't always the same per person. Google's goal is to get the results you're looking for and they likely take your search history and other factors into account too.

Anyways, regardless of all that, the point is that it pulls up more than exact match results. There's not an accuracy issue. The google search results are bringing up more than just the exact match results.

That's why in the Jaaxy platform you can look up SERP results also because it will show you what will come up when you search the term and you can see how the other sites measure up and your chances of outranking them.

You should send a message through support. Since you already use Jaaxy, try their support and you can also send on to WA's support. Try the one in siteRubix.

Hope that helps,
Marllinda

Thanks! I've raised it and hopefully will get a response soon. I've typed the keyword into the Jaaxy platform and it gave me the same top 10 SERP results as I'm getting in Google. I must just be doing something wrong or misunderstanding something. Thanks for your patience with me :)
