Good byes are not easy
When did I start working here
started working at Buellsport Guest Farm on the 28th of February 2017. I had my interview mid- January 2017 and the owners thought I would not like their place as it is in the middle of the desert and the nearest town is Rehoboth which is 180 km from the guest farm.
The first months
Needless to say the first three months I was lonely and missed my family but later adjusted and soldiered on. Actually I am a nature loving person, coupled with my wildlife background, everything fell into place.
Tourism
In the first place I enjoyed engaging with the tourists. Above all I enjoyed supervising the staff working on the tourism side and sharing my 20 years of experience in tourism and wildlife. However I also benefited from them culture wise.
The dogs
However, I bonded well with the dogs and they loved me too. The farm has 4 jack Russels' and a Labrador cross with something. I played ball with the Jack Russels' and gave them their medication wrapped in cold meat or butter!
Time moves fast
spent four years and nine months working at Buellsport. My bosses and I had a business relationship based on trust. I could run the tourism section when they went away on vacation or on business meetings.
Good byes
Finally yesterday, I left the Guest farm. It was both a sad event and a jovial event to leave. We had breakfast together as a team and after that we took many photos! The dogs were also part of the photo shoot!
I am going back home to Zimbabwe to play with the grandchildren, do my garden projects and crochet like never before. Please note, I will be offline as from Wednesday the 8th until I set up my internet connection.
