Course 2 almost done. Time for a review!

Hi everyone,

OK... so I'm two weeks in on my 'WA career' and I have to say, that it's been great fun. In the beginning, I remember setting my goals in the forum - as instructed in one of the lessons in course 1, and I said I'd commit 2-3 hours a day to making my site(s) a success. Now, I know it's only early days, but so addictive is the training and so friendly are the whole WA community, I probably spend nearer 4-5 hours a day here! So needless to say, making a go of this has not been an issue - in fact, I crave to come back and do more! Long may it continue!

So what is my niche?

As someone who enjoys the outside, country walks and just being in nature, I wanted to do something that embraced all of that, and as such would make the website maintenance a really enjoyable experience - and not a chore! So having duly done some keyword research, I opted for a tourism and visitor attraction listing website promoting my local county - Norfolk, in the United Kingdom... not VA! :-).

Now in truth, as the training has progressed, I do wonder if my niche is a bit limited - i.e. doesn't have worldwide appeal and doesn't necessarily solve a problem that would be had by anyone across the globe. And maybe, other niches would have higher traffic with less competition on certain keywords. Bu t my view is, as affiliate promoters Greg and Fiona Scott say, "FOCUS - follow one course until success". So that I will do for the duration of this course. I can then branch out into other avenues from there - after all, the opportunities for more niches is endless.

So what's my website? Check out www.norfolk-online.co.uk. Always grateful for feedback and any comments on posts and pages. Hopefully the Adsense ads may appeal too! :-)

What do I enjoy most?

My wife asks me this a lot, as she tries to figure out why I disappear for hours on end tapping away on my laptop. For me, I love not knowing what is around the corner in the next lesson - what new tools will I learn about? How will it affect my website rankings? When will it get me to page one in SERPS, and as my wife keeps asking.... when will it earn some money! All in good time I keep telling her. I see that the next course is all about revenue so, as I mention above, I'm already getting excited about it.

Any issues along the way?

I wouldn't say that I have come across any issues. My only regret I suppose is not starting my website journey using the WA hosting. It would make everything so much easier to manage. But that said, I can still migrate it across when I'm ready. I'll certainly be doing my next site through the platform, that's for sure.

As someone who is a little impatient, I also check my rankings for certain targeted keywords, just about every day. So far, I don't really feature high for any of them, and I followed the course advice religiously. But with every lesson, I can only be making things better - I'm sure the with more content, will come better rankings. And organic content takes time to mature, so I am told. So do has anyone achieved a page 1 ranking within the hour? Some blog's I've read claim to have done, but it's certainly not my experience as yet. Would love to hear how you guys are getting on with this. But, again, I reiterate - I am very impatient and must learn to give these things time. :-) I think this wasn't helped when I read in one of the "What's next" pieces in one of the early tutorials teasing me that in the next course (Course 2) I would learn how to get my site ranked in 15 minutes. Did I miss that lesson? :-)

Anyway, these are all minor 'beefs'. As I have said already, I'm loving these courses and loving mixing it up with all of you wonderful people. Kyle is very engaging, and I'm sure I'll come across Carson in time too. Furthermore, everyone else - too many to mention here - have been so helpful. I look forward to being able to give something back too.

So that's me so far. Just two weeks, but in that short time it seems we have covered so much. Thanks again everyone. And here's to our future success together.

All the best,

Sean Greentree
